REFLEKSI TENTANG TENAGA KERJA WANITA INDONESIA (TKWI): TINJAUAN SOSIOLOGI SASTRA TERHADAP NOVEL GALAKSI KINANTHI KARYA TASARO GK

Masalah penelitian ini adalah perlakuan tidak manusiawi terhadap Tenaga Kerja Wanita Indonesia (selanjutnya disingkat TKWI) yang terdapat dalam karya sastra dan dilihat melalui novel Galaksi Kinanthi (selanjutnya disingkat GK) karya Tasaro GK. Masalah tersebut dilihat melalui tiga permasalahan, yaitu (1) lingkungan sosial budaya yang melatarbelakangi lahirnya novel GK, (2) faktorfaktor penyebab sebagian masyarakat menjadi TKWI, (3) refleksi perlakuan tidak manusiawi terhadap TKWI. Ketiga permasalahan tersebut dianalisis dengan teori sosiologi sastra yang dikemukakan oleh Alan Swingewood. Objek formal penelitian ini adalah refleksi tentang TKWI, sedangkan objek materialnya adalah novel GK. Hasil penelitian yang disusun dalam tesis ini menunjukkan bahwa: 1) novel GK yang diterbitkan pada tahun 2009 atau pada era reformasi memiliki relevansi dengan konteks zaman yang melahirkannya. Termasuk di dalamnya adalah lingkungan sosial budaya yang menjadi latar penciptaan novel GK. Kondisi ekonomi dan politik yang tidak stabil pada era reformasi mempengaruhi kondisi sosial masyarakat Indonesia seperti yang diperlihatkan melalui problem sosial yang dialami para tokoh di dalam cerita; 2) perlakuan tidak manusiawi terhadap TKWI dalam novel GK yang menjadi masalah dalam penelitian ini memperlihatkan gambaran realitas kehidupan yang kerap dialami masyarakat terutama yang menjadi TKWI. Perlakuan tidak manusiawi yang menimpa sebagian TKWI di luar negeri yang terdapat dalam novel GK antara lain, gaji yang tidak pernah dibayar, pelecehan seksual dan pemerkosaan, penyiksaan secara fisik dan mental, dan eksploitasi jam kerja; 3) hadirnya perlakuan tidak manusiawi terhadap TKWI dalam novel GK sangat bermanfaat sebagai titik tolak refleksi atas keadaan yang terjadi pada masa kini; 4) faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan masyarakat menjadi TKWI antara lain persoalan tekanan ekonomi, perdagangan manusia (human trafficking), dan kecilnya kesempatan kerja. 5) faktor-faktor tersebut mempunyai hubungan dengan persoalan kemiskinan. Fakta menunjukkan bahwa sebagian TKWI berasal dari daerah-daerah atau wilayah yang kurang menguntungkan secara ekonomi dan sosial, dalam arti miskin karena tanahnya kurang subur ataupun miskin kesempatan kerja meskipun tanahnya subur. Dalam novel GK, persoalan kemiskinan ini ditunjukkan oleh tokoh yang hidup di daerah Gunung Kidul, satu daerah di Yogyakarta yang pernah menjadi ikon daerah miskin di Indonesia.

The problem this research is inhumane treatment of Indonesian Women Workers (hereinafter abbreviated IWW) found in literature and viewed through a novel Galaksi Kinanthi (hereafter abbreviated to GK) by Tasaro GK. The problem is seen through the three issues, namely (1) socio-cultural environment surrounding the birth of the novel GK, (2) the factors that cause some people to be IWW, (3) reflection inhumane treatment of IWW. These three problems are analyzed with the sociological theory of literature advanced by Alan Swingewood. Formal object of study is a reflection of TKWI, while the material object is a novel GK. The results are compiled in this thesis showed that: 1) novel GK published in 2009 or in the reform era have relevance to the context of the times which gave it birth. Included is a socio-cultural environments as settings for the creation of novel GK. Economic and political conditions are unstable in the era of reform affecting the social condition of the Indonesian community as demonstrated through the social problems experienced by the characters in the story; 2) inhumane treatment of IWW in the novel GK that became a problem in this study showed a picture of the reality of life often experienced by people in particular who became IWW. Inhumane treatment that afflicts some IWW abroad contained in the novel GK, among others, who never paid wages, sexual harassment and rape, physical and mental torture, and exploitation of working hours; 3) the presence of inhumane treatment of the novel GK is very useful as a starting point for reflection over the circumstances that occurred in the present; 4) the factors that cause some people to be IWW among other issues of economic pressures, trafficking in persons (human trafficking), and little job opportunity. 5) the factors that cause most of the villagers became IWW have links with the poverty issue. The evidence suggests that some IWW come from areas or less-favored areas economically and socially, in a sense the poor because the land is less fertile or poor employment opportunities even though the soil fertile. In the novel GK, the issue of poverty is demonstrated by figures who live in Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta, an area which had become an icon of poor areas in Indonesia.
