PT Pupuk Kaltim berada ditengah masayrakat Kota Bontang yang sedang berkembang dan sangat berpengaruh langsung terhadap progress pembangunan masyarakatnya. Dapat dikatakan bahwa masyarakat Bontang merasakan imbas dari keberadaan perusahaan ini. Bontang yang dahulunya hanya sebuah wilayah yang sangat jarang penduduknya berubah ketika mulai adanya aktivitas industri sejak awal 1980. Otomatis terjadi perubahan pada pola hidup warga hingga segiperekonomiannya. Bontang kini menjadi salah satu Kota Industri di Kalimantan. Masyarakat banayk terbantu oleh adanya kegaitan Corporate Social Responsibility PT Pupuk Kaltim, mulai dari kegiatan pelestarian lingkungan hingga pemberdayaan masyarakat pun dilakukan perusahaan ini. Namun tidak berarti semua mendapat respon baik. Ada hal-hal yang masih menjadi kendala dalam berjalannya program Corporate Social Responsibility ini. ISu-isu yang muncul dari lapisan masyarakat hingga kesenjangan sosial masih dirasakan masyarakat Bontang. Beberapa permasalahan masih ada dan masih menjadi sorotan berbagai pihak. Oleh karena itu sebagai perusahaan yang beroperasi yang berdampingan dengan masyarakat, maak penelitian Corporate Social Responbility PT Pupuk Kaltim dilakukan untuk mengetahui bagaiman program itu berjalan dan seperti apa keefektivannya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memberikan pandangan dan saran agar program Corporate Social Responsibility ini dapat terus berkelanjutan dan berhasil mewujudkan pemberdayaan bagi masyrakat Bontang.

PT Pupuk Kaltim is located in the middle of Bontang city's society that is growing and straight affected to the process of the people's development. It can be said that the people of Bontang feel the induction of this company's existence. Bontang, which was a less populated area began changing when there was industry activities in the early 1980. Automatically, this lead changing to the people's pattern of life to the economical aspect. Bontang is now become one of the city of industries in Kalimantan. The people are really helped with the Corporate Social Responsibility PT. Pupuk Kaltim activity, from the environment heritage, to the community development are done by this company. But it doesn't mean that all have a good reponse. There are many obstacles in the progrees of the program. The issues that came out of the society to the social gap are still felt by the people of Bontang. Many problems are still there and are still seen by people. Therefore, as a company wich is operating side by side with society, the Corporate Social Responsibility PT Pupuk Kaltim research is held to find out how the program works, and how this effect. The goal of this research is to give a vison and suggestion so this Corporate Social Responsibility program sustainable and succesfull realize the community development of Bontang society.
