PERBANDINGAN PENGGUNAAN SILER BERBAHANDASAR SENG OKSID EUGENOL, KALSIUM HIDROKSIDA DAN RESIN TERHADAP TENSILE STRENGTH DAN FLEXURAL STRENGTH DENTIN SALURAN AKAR

2011 | Tesis | S2 Ilmu Konservasi GigiPenelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui perbedaan penggunaan siler berbahan dasar seng oksid eugenol, kalsium hidroksida dan resin terhadap tensile dan flexural strength dentin saluran akar. Penelitian ini menggunakan 24 gigi premolar mandibula. Gigi dipotong untuk mendapatkan panjang akar 12 mm, kemudian diinstrumentasi dengan teknik konvensional. Subyek dikelompokkan secara acak menjadi 3 kelompok masingmasing 8 gigi. Kelompok 1, gigi diobturasi dengan siler berbahan dasar seng oksid eugenol. Kelompok 2, diobturasi dengan kalsium hidroksida. Kelompok 3, diobturasi dengan resin. Seluruh subyek penelitian dimasukkan ke dalam kontainer yang di dalamnya terdapat kapas yang dibasahi salin, kemudian kontainer disimpan dalam inkubator dengan suhu 370C selama 15 hari. Gigi kemudian dipotong sejajar aksis gigi. Setengah bagian dari potongan gigi, kemudian dipotong lagi dengan ukuran 3,7 x 11,5 x 1,5 mm3 untuk uji flexural strength. Setengah bagian lain dari potongan gigi, diambil pada 1/3 bagian tengah dari akar dipotong lagi dengan tebal 2 mm dan dibentuk takik dengan jarak antar takik ± 1 mm untuk uji tensile strength. Pengujian tensile strength dengan microtensile testing grip, dan flexural strength dengan three-point bending pada Universal Testing Machine. Data diuji dengan ANOVA satu jalur dilanjutkan dengan uji LSD, dengan tingkat kepercayaan 95%. Hasil analisis dengan ANOVA satu jalur untuk masing-masing tensile strength dan flexural strength menunjukkan adanya perbedaaan signifikan antara kelompok siler berbahan dasar seng oksid eugenol, kalsium hidroksida dan resin (p<0,05). Pengujian LSD menunjukkan siler berbahan dasar resin memiliki perbedaan tensile dan flexural strength bermakna dengan siler berbahan dasar kalsium hidroksida (p<0,05), tetapi tidak memiliki perbedaan bermakna terhadap seng oksid eugenol (p>0,05). Kesimpulan menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan penggunaan siler berbahan dasar seng oksid eugenol, kalsium hidroksida dan resin terhadap tensile dan flexural strength dentin saluran akar. Siler resin memiliki nilai tensile dan flexural strength paling tinggi dibandingkan dengan siler seng oksid eugenol dan kalsium hidroksida.
The aim of this study was to determine the comparison of zinc oxideeugenol, calcium hydroxide, and resin as root canal sealers on tensile and flexural strength of root canal dentin. Twenty four premolar mandibular teeth used in this study. Teeth were sectioned to obtain 12 mm in length, and were instrumented using conventional technique. All teeth were randomly assigned into 3 groups of 8 each tooth. Group 1, teeth were obturated using zinc oxide-eugenol; group 2 was obturated using calcium hydroxide; and group 3 was obturated using resin. All teeth were placed into container filled with moist cotton, and stored in 370C incubator for 15 days. Each tooth was sectioned longitudinally into two segments. One segment was cut to create bar shape (3,7 x 11,5 x 1,5 mm3) for flexural strength test. Whereas the middle third of root from the other segment was cut to make hourglass shape with the thickness of 2 mm and the cross section area approximately 1 mm for tensile strength test. One segment for tensile strength test was subjected to micro-tensile testing grip, while the other segment for flexural strength test was subjected to three-point bending. Both tests were conducted using Universal Testing Machine. Data obtained were analyzed using one-way ANOVA, followed by LSD test with level of significance of 0.05. One way ANOVA analysis for either tensile strength or flexural strength showed that a significant difference occurred among zinc oxide-eugenol, calcium hydroxide, and resin sealers. LSD tests demonstrated that resin had a significant difference with calcium hydroxide (p<0.05). In contrast, resin didn’t have a significant difference with zinc oxide-eugenol (p>0.05). It can be concluded that there were differences among the zinc oxideeugenol, calcium hydroxide, and resin sealers either on tensile or flexural strength of root canal dentin. Resin sealer had the greatest both tensile and flexural strength compared to zinc oxide-eugenol, calcium hydroxide
