Rancang bangun alur kerja di Departemen Publishing berbasis Group Support System (GSS) pada PT Tiga Serangkai Pustaka Mandiri Solo

PT Tiga Serangkai Pustaka Mandiri (PT TSPM) adalah sebuah perusahaan penerbitan yang berlokasi di Solo. Produk utama yang dihasilkan berupa buku pelajaran mulai jenjang SD, SMP, sampai SMA. Produk yang laim berupa buku umum seperti buku anak, buku agama, dan buku popular. Di departemen publishing PT TSPM memiliki lima workstation mulai dari pengendalian proses, editing, setting & layout, desain & ilustrasi,dan evaluasi penulis & pihak III lain. Proses akhir produksi yaitu proses pembuatan film dan plat. Selanjutnya naskah yang sudah dibuat platnya dapat masuk ke tahap printing kemudian finishing. Proses publishing merupakan proses yang paling sulit (5 proses) untuk memenuhi tenggat waktu karena melibatkan aspek kreatif dan intelektual, proses pemeriksaan yang dilakukan oleh manager disetiap workstation masih manual yaitu dengan menggunakan form kertas, dan jadwal produksi cukup membantu administrasi produksi, tetapi efektifitasnya masih jauh dari harapan karena komunikasi dan kolaborasi antara tim tidak mendapat dukungan dari sistem. Komunikasi yang tidak lancar ini mengakibatkan keterlambatan, rework, waste yang pada akhirnya menambah biaya produksi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah rancang bangun alur kerja di departemen publishing berbasis GSS mulai dari pengendalian proses, editing, setting & layout, desain & ilustrasi, dan evaluasi penulis & pihak III lain. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menghasilkan sebuah sistem yang bertujuan untuk memberikan fasilitas, meningkatkan komunikasi dan kolaborasi bagi teamwork, sehingga dapat mengurangi kerugian perusahaan akibat keterlambatan, rework, waste yang berakibat bertambahnya biaya produksi. Metodologi yang digunakan pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan beberapa tahapan. Pertama, penelitian dilakukan dengan melakukan studi pada literaturliteratur yang berhubungan dengan proses pembuatan rancang bangun alur kerja di departemen publishing berbasis GSS. Kedua, mengumpulkan dan mengkaji dokumen-dokumen yang terkait dan diikuti dengan wawancara dengan pihak yang terkait. Ketiga, hasil dari kajian literatur, dokumen dan wawancara dijadikan bahan dan acuan untuk pengembangan sistem informasi. Dalam proses pembuatan rancang bangun alur kerja di departemen publishing berbasis GSS ini peneliti mengacu pada metode pengembangan perangkat lunak secara umum, yaitu metode pengembangan System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Metode ini berfungsi untuk mengembangkan, memelihara dan menggunakan sistem yang mencakup sejumlah tahapan, yaitu : tahap planning, tahap analisis dan requirement, tahap desain, dan tahap implementation Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah sebuah sistem “rancang bangun alur kerja di departemen publishing berbasis GSS”. Dengan sistem ini akan memberikan manfaat bagi PT TSPM untuk menghemat biaya dan memenuhi tenggat waktu produksi. Kedua hal tersebut dapat dicapai dengan komunikasi dan kolaborasi yang baik antara teamwork.

PT Tiga Serangkai Pustaka Mandiri (PT TSPM) is a publishing company that is located in solo. Its main products are text books for elementary school, junior high school and senior high school. Another products are also published as introductory books like books for children, religion books, and popular books as well. In the publishing department, PT TSPM has five workstations started from controlling process, edting, setting and layout, design and illustration and also author evaluation and another third party. The final production process is the making of movie and plate. Next, the plate scripts are able to send to printing and finishing process. The publishing is the most difficult process for meeting the given deadline. It is because of involving creativity and intellectuality. The investigation process worked by manager in each workstation is still done manually by using paper form. The production schedule has helped enough the production administrative. However, the effectivity is still far from expectation because of communication and collaboration within teamwork do not get suppors from the system. This bad communication affect the delay, rework, and waste which can increase production cost. The purpose of this research is Modelling Design of Workflow at the Publishing Department Based on GSS that is started from controlling process, edting, setting and layout, design and illustration and also author evaluation and another third party. The result of this research is hoped to be able to produce a system that aims for giving facility and increasing the communication and collaboration within teamwork. It can decrease company deflation affected by the increasing of production cost. The methodology that used in this research is done by several step. First, the research is worked with related literature studies which connect to the Modelling Design of Workflow at the Publishing Department Based on GSS. Second, it collects and studies the related documents, then followed by interviewing the involued group. Third, the result of literature studies, documents and interview is used as sources and basic for information system development. In the process of making the Modelling Design of Workflow at the Publishing Department Based on GSS, the researcher due to the software development generally. It is said as the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) method. This method is used to develop, to maintain, and to use the system that involves several steps; planning, analysis and requirement, design, and limplementation. The result of the research is a system of “Modelling Design of Workflow at the Publishing Department Based on GSS”. The system will give advantages for the company PT TSPM to decrease production cost and to meet the given deadline. These two points can be reached by good communication and collaboration within teamwork.
