Perbandingan potensial aksi otot mentalis bibir inkompeten sebelum dan sesudah pemakaian trainer for braces :: Kajian elektromiografi bibir inkompeten posisi bibir terbuka dan bibir tertutup pada perawatan ortodontik tekniik begg tahap dua

Akhir tahap satu perawatan ortodontik teknik Begg pada maloklusi Angle klas II divisi 1, koreksi jarak gigit sudah harus tercapai dengan cara retraksi gigi anterior. Bibir inkompeten yang tidak terkoreksi setelah retraksi gigi anterior dapat menyebabkan hasil akhir perawatan tidak stabil sehingga perlu dilakukan latihan otot bibir dengan Trainer for Braces sebagai alat miofungsional yang dapat digunakan selama perawatan ortodontik dengan alat cekat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbandingan potensial aksi otot mentalis bibir inkompeten sebelum dan sesudah pemakaian Trainer for Braces serta perbedaan perubahan potensial aksi otot mentalis bibir inkompeten antara kelompok yang memakai dengan kelompok yang tidak memakai Trainer for Braces. Penelitian dilakukan terhadap 12 subjek yang memenuhi kriteria, terbagi menjadi kelompok perlakuan berjumlah 6 subjek dan 6 subjek lainnya sebagai kelompok kontrol. Berdasarkan rekaman EMG, potensial aksi otot mentalis bibir inkompeten saat istirahat pada posisi bibir terbuka lebih kecil daripada posisi bibir tertutup. Data potensial aksi otot mentalis bibir inkompeten dianalisis dengan paired t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 3 bulan sesudah pemakaian Trainer for Braces, potensial aksi otot mentalis bibir inkompeten pada posisi bibir terbuka terjadi peningkatan yang sangat bermakna (p<0,05) dan pada posisi bibir tertutup terjadi penurunan yang sangat bermakna (p<0,05). Perubahan potensial aksi otot mentalis bibir inkompeten pada posisi bibir terbuka dan tertutup antara kelompok yang memakai dengan kelompok yang tidak memakai Trainer for Braces menunjukkan perbedaan yang sangat bermakna (p<0,05)

At the end of first stage of Begg’s orthodontics treatment on Angle class II division 1 malocclussion, overjet correction must have been achieved by retraction of anterior teeth. Uncorrected incompetent lips following the retraction of anterior teeth might caused any orthodontics treatment result will be unstable that necessitate lip training using Trainer for Braces as myofunctional appliance that might be used during fixed applince therapy. The present study aims was to determine the comparison of mentalis muscle action potential of incompetent lips before and after the application of Trainer for Braces and the differences in mentalis muscle action potential changes of incompetent lips between the groups with and without Trainer for Braces. The research was conducted on 12 subjects that included in criteria. They were divided into treatment group (6 subjects) and control group (6 subjects). Based on EMG recording that mentalis muscle in the subject with incompetent lips reveal a smaller action potential at the rest position with the lips were held apart than when lips in contact. The data of the mentalis muscle action potential of incompetent lips have been analyzed with paired t-test. The results demonstrated that in 3 months following the application of Trainer for Braces, the mentalis muscle potential action of incompetent lips in apart position increased more significantly (p<0.05) and in contact position it decreased more significantly (p<0.05). The mentalis muscle action potential changes of incompetent lips in apart and contact positions between the group with and without Trainer for Braces were different more significantly (p<0.05).
