Speeding becomes one of the main causes of road accident because speed influences the risk and collision consequences. Pedestrian, who use the road is become vulnerable, regarding that they have to share the road to the other road users. Furthermore, pedestrian has the higher risk of accident than the other road users, because they are unprotected compare to the car occupants who always protected by the outside shields. Mostly, the accident between vehicles and pedestrian crossing occurs because pedestrian become ignore by vehicle drivers who drive in high speed and it has lead drivers could not maintain the vehicle. Hence, the research is conducted to detect approaching vehicle(s) speed when a conflict occurs between vehicle(s) and pedestrian(s) and to determine the impact of that speed to pedestrian(s). Survey was conducted on Wates and Laksda Adisucipto road at Yogyakarta Province. It measure only two types of vehicle, motorcycle and light vehicle. There are conditions in taking speed data, vehicles should pass three segments: reaction area, braking area and pedestrian crossing area (PCA) when there are pedestrian is going to cross the road (pedwait condition) and pedestrian is crossing the road (pedcross condition). The method of this research is using quantitative methods. Analyzing the mean (μ) of speed grouped data by Statistic Descriptive Analysis which is assume as normal distribution and ensure its normalcy by normalcy test. Conducting normal test for difference in mean speed to know the significances of speed changes. Finally, analyze the impact of speed to pedestrian fatality. The results indicate that both of motorcycle and light vehicle drivers did not respect to pedestrian because they keep driving when pedestrian(s) is going to cross the road and crossing the road. Mainly, motorcycles speed was significantly increased on braking area and decreased on PCA at pedwait and pedcross condition. Contrary to motorcycles, light vehicles speed was tend to significantly decreased on braking area and significantly increase on PCA at pedwait and pedcross condition. However, the mean speed of motorcycles and light vehicles shows that the speed is endanger to pedestrian, because the probability of fatal injury if pedestrian being hit by them are 62-75% for motorcycles and 30-80% for light vehicles.
