Cross section condition in Jogjakarta :: Case study on arterial and collector road

In many cities in Indonesia, land use also change the function of the cross section. Jogjakarta is the location of this study. The objective of this study are Comparing guidelines / standards for designing cross section and the existing condition of cross section on arterial and collector roads, identifying some problems and causes of problems, proposing some change or improvement in order to solve the problems and improve the safety on cross section element based on guidelines, interview result and subjective idea. To analyse the interview data, descriptive qualitative is used. Analysis result will showed primary and secondary data as description, table, figure and picture. Data analysis steps are: check guidelines / standards for designing cross section, review / survey existing condition, identify problems / causes of problems, found the recommendations change / improvement. Conclusion of this study are cross section in Yogyakarta is already adopted the standard but the function of cross section element is different. This situation caused by type of road side land use. Sidewalk should be improved to prevent the disable users. From interview data, most of people feel uncomforted when walk or drive on commercial area because there are many vendors those obstacles the road. Improving road users’ behaviours and some cross section is needed.
