Pelatihan keterampilan sosial untuk menurunkan kecemasan sosial pada penyandang cacat tubuh

This research is conducted to find out the influence of social skill training to the social anxiety of people with physical disability. The physical reaction of people with physical disability having social anxiety are palpitation, excessive sweating, trembling, having negative thoughts, and avoidance of the social situation. Therefore, a social skill is needed to solve the problem. It is an effective way to reduce social anxiety. The subjects of the research are 13 people with physical disability having the age of 13-22 divided into two groups, experiment group and control group. The experiment group consist of 7 people with physical disability and the control group consists of 6 people. The training is given twice a week for three weeks. The social anxiety is measured by using social anxiety scale before the pre-test, after the post-test, and a month after the follow up. The result is analysed by using both qualitative (observation and worksheet of the social skill training participant) and quantitative (Mann Whitney’s test and Wilcoxon’s test) method. The result shows that the social skill training can reduce the social anxiety significantly on people with physical disability.
