Antenatal care in pregnancy, both physical and psychological aspects, are still being a serious issue in Indonesia. It’s indicated by the fact that Indonesia is on the highest rank of maternal death number in South-East Asia. This research is aimed to explore the effectiveness of PuRelax (Pregnancy Auto-induced Relaxation) training in order to diminish occured symptoms of stress in pregnancy, especially in primiparas. This research recruited 8 primiparas (aged 18-35 years old) who were getting through the third trimester (after 28-weeks gestation) as the participants. PuRelax training was held in groups for 4 meetings. Training effectiveness were evaluated and measured by using maternal stress scale, interview, and observation. There was a significant gain-score differences between experiment and control group, valued by Z=-2,309 (p<0,05), with 13 mean degression. This finding suggests beneficial effect of PuRelax training on reducing stress in primiparas. Furthermore, this research will enrich evidence-based psychological treatment for a comprehensive maternal care.
