Fenomena konformitas negatif pada siswa di komunitas asrama

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui alasan dan faktor- faktor yang mempengaruhi siswa di komunitas asrama melakukan konformitas negatif. Subyek penelitian ini adalah 10 siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama dan siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas yang tinggal di sebuah asrama di Pulau Sumba, Nusa Tenggara Timur dan seorang staf asrama. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dan observasi terhadap subyek. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa alasan siswa melakukan konformitas negatif adalah karena subyek takut ditolak oleh siswa yang lain jika mereka tidak melakukan konformitas negatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pula faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi konformitas negatif, yaitu faktor personal seperti presentasi diri, rasa percaya diri dan kepribadian remaja; dan faktor situasional seperti kohesivitas, budaya, norma kelompok dan perasaan berkomunitas.

This research aimed to know the reasons and factors underlying students negative conformity, who live in a dormitory. Subjects were 10 students from junior and senior high school who live in a dormitory in Sumba Island, East Nusa Tenggara and one dormitory staff. This research was a qualitative one. Data were collected by interviewing and observing the subjects. The result show that the reason of conformity of the students was because they are frigthened to be rejected by the other students in the dormitory, if they didn’t do that. It also showed that the factors which influence negative conformity were: personal factors as self presentation, self confidence, and the teenager personality; and situational factors as cohesiveness, culture, group norm and the sense of community.
