Antara Islam dan sosialisme Partai Sarekat Islam Indonesia (PSII) 1924-1945

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan hubungan Partai Sarekat Islam Indonesia (PSII) dengan ideologi yang diterapkan (Sosialisme Islam). Pilihan ideologi sangat berpengaruh terhadap kebijakan yang diterapkan oleh partai, terkait dengan arah perjuangan yang ingin dicapai. Pokok permasalahan dalam penulisan tesis ini adalah: mengapa SI memutuskan untuk menjalankan Sosialisme Islam sebagai ideologi?. Untuk menganalisis hubungan PSII dengan Sosialisme Islam yang dipilih sebagai ideologi, tentu harus melihat gejala penting tentang perubahan-perubahan yang terjadi sekitar partai politik seperti: ideologi, organisasi, serta ciri pimpinan dan pengikut masing-masing. Seperti halnya teori yang diterapkan, bahwa terdapat beberapa faktor penting yang mendasari PSII dalam memilih dan menerapkan Sosialisme Islam sebagai ideologi. Pertama: perkembangan politik nasional. Faktor ini menjelaskan kondisi sosial-politik Indonesia yang sedang mengelami kolonialisasi Belanda. Kedua: Pan-Islamisme. Gerakan ini menjadi media bagi terciptanya organ pergerakan rakyat bumiputera –yang mayoritas beragama Islam- dengan mengusung Islam sebagai dasar perjuangan. Ketiga: Elit. Faktor ini menjelaskan tentang pertarungan elit muslim di internal partai, karena elit muslim inilah yang memberikan corak terhadap kelembagan PSII. Keempat: ideologi. Pertarungan elit erat kaitannya dengan arah dan tujuan pergerakan yang ingin dicapai. Klaim atas basis massa terjadi sebagai upaya untuk menunjukkan kekuatannya masing-masing. Pada proses saling klaim basis massa inilah, semuanya ditarik pada konteks ideologi, karena ideologi sangat penting sebagai landasan gerak-juang partai dalam mencapai tujuan. Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa elit muslim dan anggota lainnya dalam kelembagaan PSII menerima Sosialisme yang dijalankan sesuai dengan ajaran Islam. Artinya, Sosialisme dapat disandingkan dengan Islam hanya dalam konteks ’keadilan’ bagi kehidupan manusia. Pada konteks inilah Sosialisme dan Islam, yang akhirnya disebut Sosialisme Islam dipilih sebagai landasan ideologi partai dalam mewujudkan cita-cita perjuangan yang ingin dicapai. Di sisi yang lain, pilihan ideologi Sosialisme Islam merupakan bentuk penolakan terhadap Komunisme serta arus gerakan besar Komunis Internasional yang dinilai bertentangan dengan Islam.

The objective of this research is to explain the relationship between Indonesian Sarekat Islam Party (PSII) and its ideology. The selection ideology in a party has a great influence on its policy, in respect of the course of its struggle. The main subject in this thesis writing is: why the SI decided to choose the Islam Socialism as their ideology? To analyze the relationship between the party and its ideology, we should see the important phenomena of changes that happened around the party such as: ideology, organization, and character of leaders as well as their own followers. According to the theory, there are several important factors which motivated PSII to choose the Islam Socialism as their ideology. Firstly is the current trend in national politic. This factor explains Indonesian socio-political condition which experiencing the Dutch colonization. Secondly is Pan-Islamism. This movement has become a media for the creation of local organization by indigenous people - most of them are Moslem - that used Islam as their basic. Thirdly are the Elites. This factor explains about the fight among Moslem elites inside the party which give the characteristic to the PSII. The fourth is the ideology. The fight of the elites closely related to the course and the objectives of the party. Claim for mass among elites occurred as an effort to show their forces. In these claims, all issues were drawn to ideological level because the ideology is very important as a basic of struggle movement for the party in achieving their objectives. This research concludes that the Moslem elites and other members in PSII institution accepted the kind of Socialism which appropriate to Islam doctrine, in the sense of Socialism and Islam can only be coupled in “justice” context for human life. Based on this context, where the unity of Socialism and Islam called as Islam Socialism, this ideology was chosen as party ideology. On the other hand, this selection was taken as a form of denial to Communism and its international movement that judged as opposed to Islam.
