Pengembangan sistem informasi modem di lingkup Perusahaan Perkebunan terasa sangat lamban dan cenderung mengumbar teknologi dari sisi hardware untuk menutupi segala keribetan dan investasi yang terlanjur ditanamkan di sisi hardware dan infrastruktur. Di sisi lain saat ini perusahaan membutuhkan informasi yang cepat, akurat dan terintegrasi. Kebutuhan informasi yang handal dengan tentu saja membutuhkan perencanaan infrastruktur, hardware, software, aplikasi dan SDM yang tepat. Di sisi lain dalam pendekatan manajemen modem, banyak kebijakan, strategi, dan aktivitas pengelolaan potensi kewilayahan berbasis areal yang memandang informasi sebagai elemen vital. PT Perkebunan Nusantara XIV (Persero) dengan lokasi yang tersebar dan berada pada daerah yang cukup terisolir mengakibatkan pengelolaan dan pengolahan informasi menjadi lambat, tidak akurat, tidak terintegrasi dan tidak terotomasi. Penge lolaan informasi secara optimal bukan hal yg mudah dicapai, karena pada umumnya melibatkan sistem yang kompleks. Kenyataan di lapangan sering menunjukkan sumber data yang sangat beragam, luasnya lingkup unit-unit kerja yang terlibat, ditarnbah dengan kurangnya penguasaan SDM tentang aspek teknologi yang digunakan. Untuk dapat melaksanakan pengelolaan informasi yang baik dalam suatu perusahaan diperlukan suatu sistem pengelolaan sistem informasi berbasis teknologi informasi. Pengembangan sistem informasi berbasis teknologi informasi memerlukan analisis yang menyeluruh dalam mel ihat permasalahan yang berkaitan dengan semua proses pengembangan sistem baik itu sejak dari persiapan, pengembangan, irnplementasi, sosialisasi dan evaluasi serta berkaitan dengan sumberdaya yang harus dipersiapkan. Sebagai landasan awal pelaksanaan sistem informasi berbasis teknologi informasi di PT. Perkebunan Nusantara XIV (Persero), perlu dibuat Rencana Stratejik Pengembangan Sistem Informasi Berbasis Teknologi Informasi. Penyusunan Rencana Stratejik Pengembangan (MASTER PLAN TI) yang realistis dan sesuai dengan kondisi obyektif di lapangan membuat implementasi lebih mudah dilaksanakan dan diterima oleh seluruh jajaran perusahaan. Penyusunan Rencana Stratejik Pengembangan Sistem lnformasi Berbasis Teknologi Informasi mengintegrasikan unsur database yang ada, infrastruktur, hardware, software, aplikasi yang telah ada, SDM dan dengan memperhatikan kondisi keuangan perusahaan serta komitmen manajemen. The development of modem information systems in the scope of plantation company was very slow and tends to spit from the hardware technology to cover all investment complexity and already embedded in the hardware and infrastructure. On the other side of the current information that company needs fast, accurate and integrated. The need for reliable information, of course, requires the planning of infrastructure, hardware, software, applications and appropriate human resources. On the other side in the modern management approaches, many of the policies, strategies, and potential management activities based territorial area looking information as a vital element. PT Perkebunan Nusantara XIV (Persero) with scattered locations and are in a fairly isolated area resulted in the management and process ing of information to be slow, inaccurate, not integrated and not automated. An optimal management of information is not easily achieved reply, because it generally involves a complex system. In reality often indicates the source data is very diverse, wide scope of work units involved, coupled with a lack of mastery of human resources aspects of the technology used. In order to implement good information management in a company needed a system management IS/IT. lmpelentation of IS/IT requires a thorough analysis in view the problems with the process of developing a good system since the preparation, development, implementation, dissemination and evaluation and related resources to be prepared. As a basis for initial implementation of information systems in information technology-baseD PT. Perkebunan Nusantara XIV (Persero), have created the Strategic Development Plan-IS/IT. Formulation of Strategic Development Plan (MASTER PLAN IT) is realistic and in accordance with the objective conditions in the field to make implementation easier to carry out and accepted by all levels of the company. Formulation of Strategic Plan-IS/IT to integrate elements of existing databases, infrastructure, hardware, software, existing applications, human resources and taking into account the company's financial condition and management commitment.
