Metode COMPIC untuk meningkatkan bahasa reseptif pada anak autis

Low communication skills in children with autism are caused by obstruction of their receptive language skills. Receptive language skills can be increased by using compic (computer generated pictures) method. Compic is a part of augmentative and alternative communication. To Increase receptive language skills with compic is done by teaching representation and conditioning. The goal of this research is to demonstrate the effectiveness of compic method in increasing receptive language skills in autistic child. This research uses is single case study with one subject. The research design uses the A-B-A model. A phase measures the baseline and the B phases measures the intervention. The measurements was done twice, before anda after the intervention. This research uses 29 sessions, baseline sessions each acounts 5 sessions and the intervention acounts 19 session.The subject of this research is a boy aged 7 years and 5 months and diagnosed with autism. Currently the subject is studying in the Yogyakarta Special Needs School. The reseptive language that will be increased is identifying objects. There are 3 objects that is introduced to the subject. This research shows that the compic method could increase reseptive language in identifying nouns and objects.The effectiveness of the compic method in increasing reseptive language in children with autism is because of the intervention given in the form of representation and conditioning. Factors that support the effectiveness of the intervention are subjects that is relatively still young, support form the teacher who understand the children’s condition and needs, the school’s system who faciliteds the development of of the subjects ability, dan the intensity of the intervention.
