Efektivitas parent management training (PMT) untuk meningkatkan kualitas pengasuhan orangtua yang memiliki anak agresif usia 7-9 tahun di sekolah dasar

Maltreatment in child rearing has a great impact on developing and increasing aggressive behavior in children. This present research focused on examining the Parent Management Training (PMT) in increasing quality of parent ing of parents with agressive children. The parents were trained to use learning principals in responding and handling children’s behaviors, by using a social learning approach. Fourteen parents with 7-9 years old aggressive children were participated in this research. Untreated control group design with pre -test and post-tes t were used. The effectiveness of the training was evaluated with Skala Kualitas Pengasuhan. Results of Man Whitney U-Test with gain scores showed that there were significant score differences between experiment group and control group in the measurement between pre-test and post-test with U = 0,000 and p = 0,004 (p < 0,05), measurement between post-test and follow-up with U = 5,000 and p = 0,035 (p < 0,05), and measurement between pre-test and follow-up with U = 2,500 and p = 0,013 (p < 0,05). The qualitative analisys on observation and interview (Focus Group Discussion) results during and after PMT showed that PMT could increase quality of parenting of parents with aggressive children.
