Evaluasi penerapan critical path method (CPM) pada kontraktor dalam pelaksanaan pembangunan kilang minyak PT X

Dalam rangka peningkatan kehidupan dari masyarakat suatu negara, antara lain dilakukan dengan membangun proyek berbagai jenis industri dan prasarana umum yang diperlukan oleh suatu komunitas masyarakat tertentu. Manajemen proyek adalah salah satu cara yang dipilih untuk keberhasilan suatu proyek. Metode jalur kritis (Critical Path Method, CPM) diperkenalkan menjelang akhir dekade 1950 an oleh suatu tim engineer dan ahli matematika dari perusahaan Dupont bekerja sama dengan Rand Corporation, dalam usaha mengembangkan suatu sistem kontrol manajemen proyek. CPM merupakan salah satu metode yang cukup banyak digunakan oleh para kontraktor dalam pelaksanaan kilang minyak PT X. Sebagai sebuah metode atau alat, CPM tentu memiliki sisi positif dan negatifnya. Hal inilah yang ingin dikaji dalam penelitian ini, bagaimana sikap perusahaan atas penerapan metode CPM serta dampaknya terhadap kesuksesan dalam pelaksanaan pekerjaan kilang minyak PT X. Dalam implementasinya ternyata respon kontraktor terhadap metode CPM sangat positif, yang menggambarkan bahwa perusahaan sangat terbantu dalam menyelesaikan suatu proyek pada saat menerapkan metode CPM. Dua alasan utama mengapa perusahaan menggunakan metode CPM yaitu karena alasan efektivitas komunikasi dan good problem solving. Benefit yang paling utama dirasakan oleh perusahaan pada saat menggunakan CPM adalah adanya respon yang lebih cepat dalam menyelesaikan masalah di lapangan. Mayoritas perusahaan merasa puas dengan kinerja CPM, ditinjau dari kinerja proyek.

In order to increase the quality life of the people in a country, we can built many projects industries and public utilities which is needed. Project management is one other way to remain a successful project. Critical Path Method (CPM) is introduced in late decade of 1950 by the engineer and mathematician team from Dupont Company collaborated with Rand Corporation, in effort to develop a control project management system. CPM is one method that quite a lot used by the contractors in realization PT X oilrefinery.As a method or instrument, CPM has the positive and negative side. That is the reason of this reasearch, how the attitude of the companies in applying CPM and the effects with success in realization PT X oil-refinery. Contractors respond in the implementation of CPM method is very positive, describing that the company is assisted in finishing a project with the CPM method. Two main reason why the company used the CPM method, there are communication efectivity and good problem solving. Primary benefit that felt by the company in using the CPM method is the quicker respond when finishing problems in field. Mayority companies feel satisfied with the performance of CPM, which observed at the end of the company high performance.
