The aim of this research is to find out about the force majeure classification of PT. BRI (Persero) Tbk. Office branch Klaten and the strategy used in solving the problematic credits caused by the force majeure condition. This research is based on literature study which is conducted to collect the secondary data in law field, completed with field research, which results will hopefully be able to give descriptive-analytical view. From the result of this research, it can be explained that BI decides May 2006 tectonic earthquake as a force majeure condition, and based on the facts found on the field it is clear that the condition is categorized into relative (periodical) force majeure. Thus, the force majeure condition only occurs for a while, and it will not free the debtor from performing his/ her duty as mentioned in the previous credit pact. Yet, some dispensations practically may be given. The restructurization acts, conducted by BRI branch Office Klaten, sets negotiation (friendly discussion between bank and debtor parties) as the best way to solve the problem. Whenever there is no deal, the result of negotiation in written form will be made and reported to BRI Regional Office. The Regional Office will hopefully be able to make a final decision (taking form as a disposition) to BRI Branch Office Klaten about the condition, which is then reported to the debtor.
