Analisis bentuk dan makna dalam peribahasa Arab

Kajian ini memanfaatkan data peribahasa Arab yang terdapat dalam buku Peribahasa Arab (Rathomy, 1981). Buku tersebut merupakan kumpulan peribahasa Arab yang diambil dari kitab Faraidul Adab (Ma’luf, 1986). Dalam penelitian ini, penekanannya terletak pada analisis bentuk dan makna peribahasa Arab yang dikaitkan dengan budaya bangsa Arab sebagai latar terciptanya peribahasa Arab tersebut. Adapun pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan sintaksis, semantik, dan budaya. Pendekatan sintaksis digunakan untuk mengungkap bentuk peribahasa Arab secara sintaksis. Pendekatan semantik digunakan untuk membahas makna metaforis dalam peribahasa Arab. Sementara itu, pendekatan budaya digunakan untuk melihat latar belakang budaya sebagai latar terciptanya peribahasa Arab tersebut. Dari hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa secara sintaksis bentuk peribahasa Arab dapat berupa frasa, klausa, dan kalimat. Secara makna, disimpulkan bahwa penggambaran makna metaforis lebih banyak dipengaruhi oleh budaya setempat sebagai latar terciptanya peribahasa Arab tersebut. Cakupan makna metaforis tersebut terbagi dalam beberapa ranah atau domain, yaitu (1) ranah perdagangan, (2) ranah pertanian atau perkebunan, (3) ranah peternakan atau kehewanan, (4) ranah peperangan, dan (5) ranah yang berhubungan dengan alam semesta. Kelima ranah tersebut mencerminkan budaya Arab sebagai sarana pencitraannya..

This study utilizes the Arabic proverbs data which exist in Rathomy’s book entitled Arabic Proverbs. The book is a collection of Arabic proverbs that are taken from The Faraidul Adab book (Ma’luf, 1986). This research emphasizes the analysis of meanings and forms of Arabic proverbs related to the Arabic culture as the setting in which the Arabic proverbs appear. The approaches which are employed in this research include syntactic, semantic, and cultural approaches. The syntactic approach is used to uncover the forms of Arabic proverbs syntactically. The semantic approach is used to analyze the metaphoric meanings in Arabic proverbs. While, cultural approach is used to recognize the cultural background that prompts the appearance of the Arabic proverbs. The results of this research show that the Arabic proverbs can be in the forms of phrases, clauses, and sentences syntactically. Semantically, it can be inferred that the description of metaphoric meanings is much more influenced by the local culture as the background setting of the appearance of the proverbs. The metaphoric meanings can be divided into several domains, namely, commerce, agriculture, animal husbandry, war, and the domain related to the heavenly bodies. The five domains above reflect the Arabic culture that serves as the imaging instrument.
