Komentator sepakbola merupakan sebuah profesi di bidang olahraga sepakbola, yakni bertugas untuk melukiskan jalannya pertandingan serta memberikan informasi seputar sepakbola kepada pemirsa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan variasi-variasi kebahasaan atau register yang lebih dikhususkan pada jenis dan struktur wacana, komponen tutur, ciri-ciri kebahasaan, bentuk pengungkapan, dan istilah temnis yang muncul. Pengumpulan data menggunakan metode simak dengan teknik dasar yaitu teknik sadap, dan teknik lanjutan yaitu teknik simak bebas libat cakap, dilanjutkan teknik rekam, dan teknik catat. Terdapat tiga struktur wacana, yaitu pembuka, isi, dan penutup. Ditemukan pula delapan komponen tutur Dell Hymes, empat ciri-ciri kebahasaan, bentuk ungkapan dan istilah teknis pada register laporan pandangan mata komentator sepakbola. Kesimpulan yang dapat ditarik yaitu hadirnya komentator di setiap pertandingan sepakbola dimaksudkan untuk menambah daya tarik dari permainan sepakbola.

Football game commentator is one of the professions in the field of football game whose duty is to describe the process of the football match as well as to give information around the game to the viewers. This research is aimed at studying linguistic or register variations which are more focused on the discourse structures, speech components, linguistic features, the forms of expression, and specific lexical meanings that appear. Data collecting is executed through listening method by employing recording as the primary technique and nonparticipated listening technique as the secondary technique. There are three types of the discourse structure, namely, opening, content, and closing. This research is able to identify the eight speech components of Hymes, four linguistic features, the forms of speech, and specific lexicons in term of the eye sight report register in commentator football match. The conclusion that can be derived is that the existence of commentator in a football game intends to enhance the attractive force of the game itself.
