Transport in Yogyakarta has been considered as an important part of city development that should be improved. The recent public transport in Yogyakarta does not consider traffic safety. The recent bus drivers often perform risky actions that can endanger not only the passenger inside the bus but also other road users who pass along the road. To minimize the risky behaviours committed by bus drivers, factors which encourage drivers in dealing with such actions should be investigated. Observation is conducted in two ways, which are interview and questionnaire. Interview is conducted to bus drivers in order to obtain any information related with driver characteristic. Questionnaire is given to passengers to assess frequency and danger level of risky behaviours. The result of both observations will be statistically tested and analyzed to find any correlation between them. Correlation test will be the first step in selecting dominant factors, and regression test is executed to observe the relation among factors. Taking/dropping passengers not at bus stop is the most likely behaviour among bus drivers, and stopping recklessly while taking/dropping passengers is the highest danger level of all risky behaviours. Route duration, intimidation and pressure for payment are the most common factors in frequency rate of risky behaviours. Routes duration, intimidation, pressure for payment and knowledge of traffic signs are the most influencing factors in danger level of risky behaviours. Passengers’ actions or manners such as their location for stopping bus, their willingness to wait at bus stops and their tendency to take over loaded bus have significance effect on driver behaviours.
