The origin and destination of public transport passsengers in Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta City is the capital city and activity centers of D.I. Yogyakarta Province. In February 2008, The Provincial Government of Yogyakarta reformed bus system which is called Trans-Jogja. The goal of providing new transit system is providing reliable, sustainable, and convenient bus service for community. Bus system in Yogyakarta should be managed periodically in order to satisfy travel demand. The origin and destination matrix of passengers movements is important in public transport management. It contains information about travel pattern which are origin and destination of travelers. Analysis of travel pattern shows there are high generated areas and high destination areas. The highest origin and destination of Trans-Jogja users is in Umbulharjo District. Among sub-districts in Umbulharjo District, Semaki sub district is the highest destination Trans-Jogja users. Contrary, Tegal Rejo District is the lowest origin and destination of travelers. Based on passengers perception about travel time, there are some characteristics about passengers journey. Travel time at certain roads are higher than other roads. These roads are Jalan Kusumanegara and from Jalan Malioboro until Jalan Ahmad Yani.
