This study examines the trip generation and public transport facilities evaluation from public perception in Cimahi city. The background of choosing the study location is to continue the previous study, working together with the Research and Development Center for Roads and Bridges, Public Work Department. As most city in Indonesia, the road transport sector dominated by microbus (read: angkot) that serve as public transportation. With only a maximum of twelve passenger seats, then this microbus almost does not meet any conventional definition of a mass transportation. Currently, Cimahi has been served by 26 routes that serve Cimahi city and surrounding region. In fact now, the condition of public transport in Cimahi is far from expected, both in the capacity and quality services. Microbus domination in the transportation services in the city of Cimahi causes transportation issues such as the implications for the traffic smooth, services in a low efficiency, minimal convenience, and up to social problems. A number of steps are needed to improve public transport in the city of Cimahi include network structure, type of fleet according to the needs of a diverse, and of course with the quality of services provided better. Public transport quality in Cimahi was analyzed by conducting home interview survey to obtained primary data. From the questionnaire, then data were further analyzed by multilinear regression, category analysis, factor analysis, and ordered probit model. The trip generation is used to estimate the demand of public transport. Factor analysis is used to identify underlying variables, or factors, that explain the pattern of correlations within a set of observed variables. Ordered probit model occurs in survey applications which the respondent expressed a preferential with ordinal levels. The multilinear regression resulting the equation of trip generation using public transportation in Cimahi city is Y = -4406.55 + 0.264X1 + 2152.44X2 + 316.11X3 – 0.00018X4, with R2 = 0.579. From factor analysis, results for existing user of public transport, the facilities of public transport can be grouped into four factors, namely ticketing system, comfort, reliable, and additional facilities. For non user, the important factors in public transportation service are comfort and convenience, and additional facilities. From the ordered probit modeling, it can be achieved that the biggest non user willingness probability to use public transport is about 68% as a result of comfort improvement. However, third scenario when public transport is operated until late, passenger willingness probability is the smallest (28.43%). The biggest probability to use intercity bus is achieved when scenario 5 is applied that gain 8% and the biggest probability to use private vehicle is achieved when scenario 1 is applied that achieved 44%. For people who interest with bus, they are not happy with the long travel time and waiting time. They feel disposed to pay more for the fast travel time.
