Hasil percobaan Marshall test didapat kadar aspal optimum (KAO) variasi I(75%-25%)= 6%, variasi II(50%-50%)= 6,25%, variasi III(25%-75%)= 7%. Dari pengujian Indirect Tensile Strength Test (ITS) menunjukan bahwa semakin kecil prosentase pasir pantai nilai ITS semakin besar.

The cost 0f road construction is growing more and more expensive and the natural aggregate is more and more scarce. Therefore for the sake 0f economic and efficiency the beach sand is used as fine aggregate in pavement contruction. One of alternative material which is available in great amount is beach sand in Halmahera, North Maluku Province. The strength of HRS-Base mixtures is lightly influenced by mortar which is formed from fine aggregate, asphalt and filler in certain composition. This thesis studies laboratorium test of tensile strength and permanent deformation performance of HRS-Base mixture. HRS-Base mixture is made with variation I which is 75% fine aggregate and 25% Halmahera beach sand, variation II which is 50% fine aggregate and 50% Halmahera beach sand, and variation III which is 25% fine aggregate and 75% Halmahera beach sand. The asphalt variation is 5%, 5.5%, 6%, 6.5%, and 7%. Forty five specimen are made for initial test that is Marshall test, followed by Indirect Tensile Strength (ITS) test with 9 specimens and deformation test which varied time with uncomfined compression test, LVDT and data logger with 27 specimens. From Marshall test we obtain optimum asphalt content 6% for variation I, 6.25% for variation II and 7% for variation III. The result of ITS shows that the increasing of beach sand content decreases ITS value. The result of permanent deformation shows that the increasing of beach sand content decreases permanent deformation. The using of Halmahera beach sand with the composition of 75% fine aggregate – 25% beach sand, 50% fine aggregate – 50% beach sand, and 25% fine aggregate – 75% beach sand, in HRS-Base mixtures can meet Bina Marga 2007 specification.
