Pengaruh sudut susunan elemen media pengisi (packing) terhadap karakteristik daya menara pendingin kontak langsung udara-air

Paper ini menyajikan hasil penelitian karakteristik daya pada menara pendingin air. Bahan packing dari plat kayu jati. Diuji 3 jenis kolom packing dengan variasi sudut miring elemen 45o packing A45, 30o packing A60 dan 20o packing A70. Tinggi packing 0,48 m terdiri 8 dek disusun zigzag. Tiap dek berisi 7 elemen. Luas penampang seksi uji 0,0225 m2, beban menara 1 kw . Pada penelitian ini dikaji karakter hubungan antara laju daya fan terhadap laju kalor dari menara pendingin dalam bentuk f h C / 2C . Pengujian dilakukan pada laju air 0,30 g/s dan pada berbagai laju udara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa parameter f h C / 2C yang merupakan ratio antara laju daya pengggerak fan dan laju perpindahan kalor dapat digunakan sebagai parameter penguji unjuk kerja menara pendingin. Untuk susunan elemen packing yang diuji disini harga f h C / 2C lebih rendah bila sudut elemen semakin kecil.

This paper presents an experimental investigation of the power characteristic of a forced draft counter flow wet cooling tower (WCT) which is filled with packing. The packing material is fabricated from a sheet of teak. Three models of the packing columns were tested namely A45, A60, A70. The different between the three models are in term of the corrugated tile angles,a which are  = 45°,  = 30°,  = 20°, respectively. The packing is 0,48 m in height with cross sectional test area of 0,0225 m2. It consists of 8 decks where every deck contains 7 elements which is arRanged in a zigzag formation. The load of tower is 1 kW. This study investigates the correlation character between blower rapid power to rapid heat of WCT in term of f h C / 2C . The experiment was carried out using 30 g/s of water flow rates with various flow rates of air. The result shows that the ratio between rates of fan power and heat rates, f h C / 2C will decrease for smaller angel of the packing element
