Pembelajaran public health berbasis komunitas di Akademi Kebidanan Yogyakarta

Latar Belakang: Pembelajaran public health adalah serangkaian proses belajar yang di rancang membantu seseorang dalam mempelajari upayaupaya public health untuk mengatasi permasalahan public health yang ada di masyarakat. Dengan begitu pembelajaran public health sangat berperan memberikan pengetahuan dan sikap yang akan digunakan mahasiswa ketika praktik kebidanan komunitas. Sehingga akan terbentuk bidan yang paham dan mampu mengatasi permasalahan kesehatan di komunitasnya kususnya bagi ibu dan anak. Dengan problem based learning mahasiswa lebih termotivasi untuk belajar mandiri dan berkreasi sesuai kemampuan dan kemauannya, sikap kerja sama profesional juga dapat dikembangkan dengan problem based learning mahasiswa akan belajar mandiri dalam kelompok-kelompok kecil sehingga tercipta interaksi yang menyenangkan antar sesama mahasiswa. Di sini peran dosen dalam pembelajaran, partisipasi mahasiswa, metode pembelajaran dan konteks pembelajaran memberikan perannya dalam pembelajaran yang berorientasi masalah sebagai sumber pembelajaran mahasiswa. Tujuan: Mengetahui pelaksanaan pembelajaran public health berbasis komunitas di Akademi Kebidanan Yogyakarta. Metode: penelitian ini termasuk studi kasus, deskriptif. Unit analisisnya Akademi Kebidanan Yogyakarta. Hasil: Pembelajaran public health di kelas memberikan andil terhadap pembentukan pengetahuan dan sikap mahasiswa akan public health, dalam praktik kebidanan komunitas tahun 2007 ditemukan mahasiswa yang mengalami kesulitan memecahkan masalah public health di masyarakat, kurang percaya diri, kesulitan berkomunikasi dan kesulitan bekerja sama, hal ini disebabkan karena pembelajaran public health di kelas diajarkan secara klasikal, pemahaman klasikal ini didasarkan pada: peran dosen, partisipasi mahasiswa, metode pembelajaran dan konteks pembelajaran yang belum sepenuhnya menggunakan strategi pembelajaran problem based learning. Kesimpulan: Pembelajaran public health di Akademi Kebidanan Yogyakarta diselenggarakan belum sepenuhnya dengan PBL atau masih klasikal berdasar peran dosen, partisipasi mahasiswa, metode pembelajaran, dan konteks pembelajaran. Hal ini yang menyebabkan pengetahuan dan sikap mahasiswa yang simpang siur dan bersikap acuh tak acuh kepada masyarakat, dan sesama mahasiswa ketika praktik.

Background: Public health learning is a network learning process that was designed to assist one in learning public health efforts to solve public health problem in community. Therefore, public health learning had a great role in conveying knowledge and attitude that could be used by students when practicing community midwifery. Consequently, midwife who could understand and able to solve public health problem especially maternal and perinatal will be available. With problem based learning, students were more motivated to learn independently and working based on their ability and willingness, and the attitude of professional collaboration also developed. Lecturers had a role in conveying lesson learnt, student’s participation, learning method and learning context as the source of student’s lesson learnt. Objective: This research was aimed to find out the implementation of public health lesson learnt in the midwifery academy of Yogyakarta. Method: This was a descriptive case study research that used cross sectional design. The analysis unit was students of level II in semester IV. Result: Public health learning in the class had a great role in forming knowledge and attitude of students on public health. The practice of community midwifery in the year of 2007 found that students who had difficulty in solving public health problem in the community, lack of confidence, difficulty to communicate and cooperate was caused by the classic public health learning that was taught in the class. This classic understanding was based on lecturer’s role, student’s participation, learning method and learning context that was not fully used the problembased learning strategy. Conclusion: Learning of public health is carried out has not fully with PBL or classic still based on the role of lecturer, participation of student, learning method, and learning context. This thing causing knowledge and position of irresponsive and crisscross student of apathy to public, and student humanity when practice.
