Pengembangan jaringan komputer Pemerintah Kota Batam berhasil membangun Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) yang menghubungkan 32 (tiga puluh dua) SKPD, 12 (dua belas) kantor kecamatan, 2 (dua) Pelabuhan Domestik dan 1 (satu) Pusat Layanan Perizinan. Dari 32 (tiga puluh dua) SKPD yang sudah dihubungkan jaringan komputer, 10 (sepuluh) diantaranya berada di luar Kantor Walikota Batam dan tersebar di seluruh wilayah Kota Batam. Pengelolaan manajemen jaringan menjadi satu hal yang sangat penting mengingat luasnya area yang ditangani dan banyaknya peralatan perlengkapan yang dikelola oleh Pemerintah Kota Batam. Model ISO X.700 merupakan salah satu standarisasi dalam pengelolaan manajemen jaringan komputer dengan membagi dalam 5 (lima) fungsi yaitu Fault, Configuration, Accounting, Performance, Security (FCAPS). Protokol yang dapat membantu dalam pengelolaan jaringan yaitu Simple Network Management Protokol (SNMP). Protokol ini ringan dan kecil sehingga hampir seluruh peralatan perlengkapan jaringan komputer yang mulai masuk dalam kategori kualitas menengah sudah memasukan protokol SNMP dalam produk-produknya. Rancang bangun manajemen jaringan yang diimplementasikan pada MAN Pemerintah Kota Batam berdasarkan standar model ISO X.700 dengan memanfaatkan protokol SNMP dilakukan dengan melakukan pengelompokan Object Identifier (OID) berdasarkan masing-masing fungsi standar ISO X.700. Manajemen jaringan berdasarkan standar ISO X.700 dengan memanfaatkan protokol SNMP membantu pengelola jaringan karena menjadikan pengelolaan manajemen jaringan lebih terstruktur dan sistematis.

The development of the network computer by the Government of the Batam City was successful constructive Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) that connected 32 SKPD, 12 subdistrict offices, 2 Domestik ports and 1 Centre of the permission Service. From 32 SKPD that has been connected by the network of the computer, 10 among them was apart from the Office Mayor Batam and spread all over the Batam City territory. Network management became one matter that was very important considering the width of the area that was handled and the amount of equipment equipment that were carried out by the Government of the Batam City. The ISO model X.700 was one of the standards in the network management of the computer with divided in 5 functions that is Fault, Configuration, Accounting, Performance, Security (FCAPS). Protocol that could help in the network management that is Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). This protocol was minor and small so as almost all equipment of the computer that began to enter the category of the middle quality of network equipment already SNMP protocol included in his products. Network management frame work that the implementation in MAN the Government of the Batam City was based on the standard of the ISO model X.700 by making use of SNMP protocol was carried out by carrying out the Object Identifier (OID) grouping was respectively based on the function of the ISO standard X.700. Network management was based on the ISO standard X.700 by making use of SNMP protocol helped the network manager because of making the network management more the structure and systematic.
