Salah satu teknologi yang sedang marak dan memasyarakat adalah SMS (Short Message Service) di mana setiap informasi dapat diterima dengan mudah dan cepat. Penulisan tugas akhir ini mengaplikasikan teknologi SMS dan J2ME (Java 2 Micro Edition) untuk merancang sistem pelelangan hasil komoditas tanaman keras sehingga efisien waktu dan hemat dari sisi biaya dibandingkan dengan cara yang dilakukakan sekarang. Teknologi SMS efektif digunakan sebagai sub sistem penyampaian informasi kepada agen pembeli karena beberapa kelebihan teknologi SMS antara lain, teknologi bersifat komunikasi push client yaitu teknologi komunikasi yang memungkinkan server memaksa penerima informasi untuk aktif, ketika server mengirimkan informasi. Teknologi J2ME efektif digunakan sebagai subsistem manajemen lelang pada sisi client. Kemampuan beberapa komponen display J2ME memungkinkan menampung informasi dan mengorganisirnya layaknya sebuah database, memberi kemudahan client dalam melakukan proses pelelangan. Kolaborasi kedua teknologi tersebut di atas, baik SMS maupun J2ME pada sistem ini dapat saling melengkapi dan menutup kekurangan teknologi masingmasing sehingga membuat sistem lebih efektif.

One of the rapid developed technologies in the data communication field is SMS technology, with which we can dispatch and receive the information real time. My research tried to design the model of the SMS and J2ME-Application for an auction system of the food products. Applying this technology saves time and costs. SMS technology possess a concept called push client technology, where the request for a given transaction originates with the more publisher or central servers. It is contrasted with pull technology, where the request for the transmission of information originates with the receiver or client. The J2ME-Technology is convertible effectively as a subsystem management for this auction system on the client side. One of the well-known performance of J2ME-Technology is display component. It facilitates organizing and collecting of information as a database, from which the users can get the required information respectively. By collaboration of these two technologies, the lack of performances can be covered from each other.
