Faktor internal dan eksternal yang mempengaruhi keputusan mahasiswa untuk tetap melanjutkan pendidikan di jurusan kesehatan gigi Poltekkes Pontianak

Latar Belakang: Berdasrkan evaluasi bagian pendidikan JKG Poltekkes Pontianak mahasiswa yang keluar/ tidak melanjutkan pendidikan di JKG Poltekkes Pontianak lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan jurusan lain (jurusan gizi). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh faktor internal dan faktor eksternal terhadap keputusan mahasiswa untuk tetap melanjutkan pendidikan di JKG Poltekkes Pontianak. Metode penelitian: Jenis penelitian ini adalah case-study dengan rancangan crosssectional. Variabel bebas adalah: faktor internal meliputi, motivasi, minat, sikap, faktor eksternal mahasiswa meliputi, lingkungan sosial yaitu, orang tua dan keluarga, dosen/tenaga pengajar, lingkungan non sosial yaitu, metode pembelajaran, sarana dan fasilitas.Variabel terikat yaitu: minat mahasiswa untuk tetap melanjutkan pendidikan di Jurusan Kesehatan Gigi Pontianak. Subyek penelitian berjumlah 80 orang mahasiswa semester IV dan VI JKG Poltekkes Pontianak dengan kriteria inklusi mahasiswa yang sudah mendapat pembelajaran klinik dengan latar belakang pendidikan SMA. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan kuesioner yang selanjutnya dianalisis dengan uji regresi logistik. Hasil: Hasil uji regresi logistik menunjukkan motivasi (OR = 21,0 dan p = 0,002) , minat (OR = 2,5 dan p = 0,000), sikap (OR = 1,2 dan p = 0,001), dosen (OR = 3,3 dan p = 0,041), secara statistik mempunyai hubungan yang bermakna dengan keputusan mahasiswa untuk tetap melanjutkan pendidikan. Orang tua (OR = 2,6 dan p = 0,080), metode (OR = 2,3 p = 0,067), sarana dan fasilitas (OR = 1,8 dan p = 0,117), secara statistik tidak mempunyai hubungan yang bermakna dengan keputusan mahasiswa untuk melanjutkan pendidikan. Kesimpulan:(1) Semakin baik motivasi, minat, sikap, dan dosen semakin tinggi keputusan untuk melanjutkan pendidikan, (2) Tidak ada hubungan orang tua, metode, sarana/fasilitas terhadap keputusan melanjutkan pendidikan, (3) Motivasi merupakan variabel yang paling berpengaruh terhadap keputusan melanjutkan pendidikan.

Background: The result of evaluation made by the Department of Dental Health of Pontianak Health Polytechnic showet that. the number of students who dropped out/discontinued their study at the Department of Dental Health of Pontianak Health Polytechnic was greater than other departments. Objective: The study aimed to identify the influence of internal and external factors of students to continue the study at the Department of Dental Health, Pontianak Health Polytechnic. Method: A case study with a cross sectional design was used to prove the influence of the independent variables (motivation, interest, attitude), external factors (social environment parents and families, lecturers) and non social environment (methods of learning and facilities) on the dependent variable (the decision of the students to continue the study). Eighty students of semester IV and VI with the inclusion criteria (had got clinical learning, had graduated from senior high school) were used as the study sample. Data were obtained from questionnaires and closed interview and the data was analyzed using logistic regression. Result: The result of the logistic regression test showed that value of variables: a) motivation (OR=21.0, p=0.002); interest (OR=2.5 p=0.001); attitude (OR=1.2, p=0.001); lecturers (OR=3.3, p=0.041) showed a significant corelationship with students' decision to continue the study. b) parents (OR=2.6, p=0.080); methods (OR=2.3, p=0.067); facilities (OR=1.8, p=0.117) did not showed correlation with the decision to continue the study. Conclusion: (1) The better the motivation, interest, attitude and lecturers, the stronger the decision is to continue the study; (2) There was no relationship between parents, methods, facilities and the decision to continue the study; (3) Motivation was the most dominantly variable that influence the decision to continue the study.
