Pabrik kelapa sawit merupakan sebuah unit usaha yang strategis dalam meningkatkan nilai tambah produk budidaya kelapa sawit, produk pabrik kelapa sawit adalah minyak kelapa sawit dan inti kelapa sawit. Salah satu yang penting dalam pengolahan minyak kepala sawit adalah separator lumpur minyak sawit, yang berfungsi mengutip minyak yang masih terkandung dalam lumpur minyak sawit secara sentrifugasi, setelah dipisahkan secara grafitasi di tangki pemisah minyak sebelum dibuang ke limbah. Teknologi separator lumpur minyak sawit ada tiga jenis, yaitu: (1) Teknologi High Speed Separator, (2) Teknologi Low Speed Separator, (3) Teknologi Decanter. Ketiga jenis teknologi ini masing-masing memiliki keunggulan dan kelemahan. Penulis menganalisa pemakaian ketiga jenis teknologi tersebut yang telah diterapkan di PT. Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero) dengan metode deskriptif analitis. Dimana hasil penelitian didapat Teknologi Low Speed Separator adalah teknologi yang paling efektif, efisien dan ekonomis, dengan biaya pemeliharaan Rp.2,06 – Rp.2,97 per kg.produk

Palm Oil Mill is a strategic profit centre in order to increase added value of palm oil mill industries product, Palm Oil Mill product is Crude Palm Oil (CPO) and Palm Kernel. Sludge Separator is very important palm oil machine, this machine is to reduce oil content on sludge with centrifugation method after process in clarifier tank with graphimetric method, before thrown to effluent. There in three kind of separator technology: (1) High Speed Separator Technolgy, (2) Low Speed Separator Technology, (3) Decanter Technology. All of them have each excellence and weakness. In this case, the writer analyzing the application of all technology in PT. Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero) with comparing each other on investment cost, maintenance cost, and operation method, with descriptive analyzing method. This research gets the most effective, efficient and economic separator technology is Low Speed Separator Technology, with maintenance cost between Rp.2,05–2,97 /kg.product
