Tujuan : Membandingkan daya guna magnesium sulfate 2.48 mmol (60 mg) intravena dengan midazolam 0.05 mg/kgbb intravena dalam mengurangi kejadian dan beratnya mioklonus pasca induksi etomidate. Desain : Randomized-control trial dengan pembutaan ganda. Subyek : Seratus dua puluh delapan pasien laki-laki dan perempuan, status fisik ASA I-II, usia 18-45 tahun, berat badan 40-70 kg (BMI <30kg/m2) yang akan menjalani bedah elektif dengan anestesia umum di Gedung Bedah Sentral Terpadu (GBST) RS DR. Sardjito Yogyakarta. Intervensi : Subyek dibagi dua kelompok secara acak, tiap kelompok sebanyak 64 orang. Kelompok A diberi magnesium sulfate 2.48 mmol (60 mg) intravena dan kelompok B diberi midazolam 0.05 mg/kgbb intravena 3 menit sebelum induksi dengan etomidate 0.3 mg/kgbb Pengukuran : Kejadian dan beratnya mioklonus diamati pada semua subyek pasca induksi etomidate. Tekanan darah non invasif, laju nadi dan saturasi oksigen dicatat selama periode penelitian Analisis data : Analisis deskriptif dan analitik. Uji hipotesis komparatif variabel numerik berpasangan dengan paired sample t-test. Uji hipotesis komparatif variabel numerik antara kedua kelompok yang tidak berpasangan diuji dengan independent t-test sedangkan variabel nominal maupun ordinal digunakan dengan uji chi square. Nilai p < 0.05 secara statistik dianggap bermakna.

Objective : To compare the efficacy of magnesium sulfate 2.48 mmol (60 mg) intravenous and midazolam 0.05 mg/kgbb intravenous to reduce incidence and severity of myoclonus after induction of etomidate. Design : A double blind randomized controlled trial. Subject : 128 male and female patients, aged 18-45 years old, weight 40-70 kg (BMI < 30 kg/m2) with ASA physical status I-II who were scheduled for elective surgery with general anesthesia in the Central Operating Theatre of DR. Sardjito General Hospital,Yogyakarta. Intervention : Subjects were randomly allocated to two groups, either consist of 64 patients. Group A received magnesium sulfate 2.48 mmol (60 mg) i.v and group B received midazolam 0.05 mg/kgbBW i.v, 3 minutes before induction of etomidate 0.3 mg/kgBW. Main outcomes : Incidence and severity of myoclonus were recorded in all patients after induction of etomidate. Non-invasive blood pressure , heart rate and oxygen saturation were recorded during the study period. Analyze : Descriptive and analytic analysis. Paired sample t-test to compare means intergroup. Hypothesis testing independent sample t-test to compare means between two numeric variable, and chi-square test to compare between two nominal variable. Significancy p <0.05.
