Kajian kritis terhadap pemikiran politik KH Abdurahman Wahid (Gus Dur) 1970-2000

Abdurrahman Wahid or Gus Our is an independent thinker and also the Forth of Indonesian President, who actively presenting his ideas by activism and intellectualism since 30 years later. In prior of 1970's, Gus Our was wrote actively in newspapers, magazines and also seminar, to introduce his ideas. Beside that, he involved in community policy, NGO, such as LP3ES, and become a leader of P3M which focused on Pesantren Reinforcement. His involving in the community policy has sharpening his appreciation to the government. He has ability to represent his writing in good manner, clear, light, simple and critical. He talks in various aspects, such as Islamic culture, politics, and social religious even popular culture, that was influenced to Indonesian political discourse recently. This research will elaborate of Gus Our's political thought, based on his writings within 1970-2000. Using Lasswell's concept on political text and Critical Discourse Analysis as methodology, will describe three questions research, such as how is characters of his political thinking, why Gus Our always difference with grand politics, and how is his political ijtihad will done. The result of this research shown that Gus Our is one of Indonesian Islamic traditional ulama, who highly influencing to Indonesian political process in mid 1970 till now. He wrote almost 500 articles. In discourse, Gus Our brings five main ideas, such as 1). Reinforce classical Islam in Indonesia. 2). Cultural resistance as the second Marx's revolution systems, 3).· Scientific approach, 3). Secularism, and 5). Humanism. There was impacted to his political thought, he aware that Bellum omne contra omnes as a real politics, but he argues that Islamic values are universal norm which able implemented in various conditions of states, without claim as Islamic state. His political thought was influenced by his religious thought. For him, institutional of identity or truth claim is a source of emerging the violence. Therefore, he rejects all kind of fundamentalism, radicalism, formalized, etc. His ideas on Pribumisasi Islam (down to earth of Islamic values) and implementation of sharia as a social ethics in political order, no merely placed as alternative ideology vis a vis Pancasila, but Islam would support democracy by universal values, which is embodied at sharia, such as equity, equality, musyawarah, freedom, and the role of law. Therefore, his political thought explicitly presenting the Left of lslamism and supports civil society to the Indonesian political culture. Finally, - Gus Our promotes -liberal democracy as ideal model of democracy in plural society.
