Untuk membuat keputusan strategik, para Eksekutif memerlukan gambaran menyeluruh, ringkas, dan padat tentang lembaganya, sekaligus akses ke rincian informasi. Penelitian pada tesis ini bertujuan menyediakan Sistem Informasi Eksekutif (SIE) untuk memenuhi kebutuhan di atas yang menyangkut keberadaan Dosen. Berdasarkan model SIE yang dikembangkan oleh McLeod, Jr. dan Schell, sistem dibangun di atas sistem informasi manajemen di Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana dalam bidang kepegawaian dosen dan kegiatan akademik pengajaran. Sesuai dengan karakteristik SIE, sistem ini mengutamakan tampilan dan kemudahan penggunaannya. Aspek yang dapat tercakup meliputi drill-down / roll-up informasi, pemantauan faktor penentu keberhasilan (CSF) dan pelaporan pengecualian, melalui penampilan kuantitatif profil dan pelaksanaan tugas dosen dalam bidang Pengajaran dan Studi-lanjut.

Executives need immediate global information about their firm or institution that is simple and concise in nature, and provides access to lower levels of detail. This research aims at developing an Executive Information System (EIS) to fulfil such a need in the field of the higher education including the rank, academic competency, teaching load, and further study done by the lecturers. Based on the EIS model by McLeod, Jr. and Schell, the system is developed over the existing management information systems at Satya Wacana Christian University. As an implementation of the EIS concepts, the system stresses immediate displays and ease of access to concise information. The presentation methods include information drill-down / roll-up, and also about critical success factors and exception reporting of the quantitative profiles of the lecturers.
