Pengembangan sistem test penempatan (Placement Test) berbasis komputer

Test penempatan dalam proses pembelajaran digunakan untuk mengetahui kondisi obyektif dari peserta didik, sehingga memudahkan pengajar untuk menentukan posisi peserta didik dengan materi yang sesuai dengan kemampuan masing-masing peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan sistem test penempatan di Lembaga Bahasa dan Pendidikan Profesional (LBPP) LIA Yogyakarta dari sistem paper based menjadi sistem computer based test. Beberapa permasalahan yang dialami LIA Yogyakarta dalam pelaksanaan test penempatan adalah cakupan materi tes penempatan belum didasarkan pada proficiency level yang diharapkan pada masing-masing level, dimana materi tes penempatan seharusnya mewakili kemampuan language skill dan language component seperti yang tercermin dalam silabus pengajaran. Perbedaan pencapaian jumlah jawaban benar peserta satu dengan yang lainnya sebagai dasar penentuan level dipengaruhi oleh kemampuan peserta, kondisi fisik dan psikologis peserta, serta kemungkinan peserta meniru jawaban peserta lain. Dalam penelitian ini akan dirancang suatu sistem test penempatan (placement test) berbasis komputer yang dapat menampilkan soal-soal secara random (acak) dengan tingkat kesulitan yang berdasarkan level dan topik tertentu yang dapat berpindah secara dinamis berdasarkan score yang diperoleh dan dapat memberikan informasi level kelulusan peserta, serta dapat menyajikan pembahasan dari setiap soal. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah sebuah sistem yang siap diimplementasikan di LIA Yogyakarta untuk pelaksanaan test penempatan berbasis komputer. Sistem ini dapat memberi keuntungan bagi penggunanya baik dari segi kemudahan penggunaan sistem, kualitas informasi dan manfaat informasi yang dihasilkan sistem.

Placement test in the learning process is used to discover the objective condition of the students. It will make easier for the teachers to determine the position and the appropriate course content of students, according to the student’s ability. This research aim to develop placement test system in Lembaga Bahasa dan Pendidikan Profesional (LBPP) LIA Yogyakarta, which used to be paper-based system into computer-based system. Several problems encountered by LIA Yogyakarta in conducting placement test, which are: the content of the placement test is not based on the expected proficiency level in every level, where as the content of placement test should represent language skill and language component ability such as reflected in teaching syllabi. The difference of the score value from one student with the other, as the based of level determination, is influenced by the student’s ability, physical and psychological condition, and also the possibility of cheating. This research will develop a computer-based placement test system which will deliver the questions randomize, with the difficulty level which is based on certain level and topic, and could dynamically changed, based on the obtained score and could give information of the student’s level, and deliver the right answer of every question. The result of this research is a system which is ready to be implemented in LIA Yogyakarta to conduct computer-based placement test. This system could bring several advantages for its user, is easiness of the system, also the quality and the benefit of information delivered by the system.
