Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa penting peran Selat Malaka dalam prekonomian dunia, dan seberapa amankah Selat Malaka. Hipotesis yang diajukan adalah: 1. Mengapa Malaysia,Indonesia,Singapura bekerjasama dengan Jepang dalam menjaga keselamatan pelayaran di Selat Malaka? 2. Faktor-faktor apa yang mendorong Jepang bersedia terlibat dalam menjaga keselamatan pelayaran di Selat Malaka? Metode Penelitian kualitatif dapat bersifat deskriptif atau sekedar memaparkan suatu fenomena sehingga tidak perlu pengujian hipotesa, jenis penelitian deskriptif adalah penelitian perpustakaan. Hasil Penelitian adalah 1. Tiga Negara pesisir Asia Tenggara (Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapura) mau bekerjasama dengan Jepang karena kerjasama penjagaan keselamatan pelayaran di Selat Malaka bukan dalam bentuk Militer Jepang. 2. Keinginan Jepang untuk terlibat dalam kerjasama pengamanan selat malaka dikarenakan oleh Selat malaka adalah Jalur kehidupan ekonomi Jepang,

Japan Involvement to nations ASEAN will affect positive to various problem of security threat that happened in area of territorial water flanked by that four state. Many Japan importance in this area so that feel important involved to take care of the security, especially guarantee the safety of sea transport of ship from and to Nippon.
