Model separator tipe portabel untuk meningkatkan rendemen dan kualitas minyak nilam

Minyak nilam adalah minyak atsiri, yang secara umum dihasilkan dengan destilasi uap dari Pogostemon cablin, BENTH, meskipun dapat dihasilkan dengan metode penyulingan lainnya. Rendemen dan kualitas minyak dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor, salah satunya adalah jenis separator. Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang separator dengan tipe portabel dan mengujinya untuk pemisahan minyak nilam dari destilat penyulingan uap. Parameter dari kualitas minyak dibandingkan dengan SNI, sementara komponen dari minyak nilam diuji dengan kromatografi gas. Berdasarkan percobaan yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini, menunjukkan hasil bahwa tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara kualitas minyak nilam hasil pemisahan dengan separator tipe portabel dengan minyak nilam hasil pemisahan separator standar (florentine). Bila dibandingkan dengan separator standar (florentine), pemisahan minyak dengan separator portabel lebih cepat dengan rendemen minyak yang lebih tinggi. Kromatografi gas dari kedua minyak yang diperoleh berbeda.

Patchouli oil is the essential oil, generally yielded by steam distillation of Pogostemon cablin, BENTH though it can be produced by other method of distillation. The yield and quality of the oil is affected by some factors, one of those is separator type. The research was aimed to design the separator as portable type and testing it for separation patchouli oil from destilate of steam distillation. The parameter of oil quality were compared to SNI, while the components of patchouli oil was tested by gas chromatograms. Based on the experiment performed within this research, the results showed there was no significant differences between the quality of patchouli oil separated by portable type and separated by florentine separator. If it compared to florentine separator, the separation of oil by portable type was faster with higher yield of oil. Gas chromatograms of both oil were found different.
