Pengaruh variasi bentuk dan volume separator terhadap perolehan minyak atsiri pada destilasi uap tanaman kayu putih sistem Batch

Minyak kayu putih merupakan salah satu komoditas Indonesia yang mempunyai peluang besar dalam industri perdagangan domestik maupun internasional. Sebagai negara pemasok kebutuhan dalam negeri maupun luar negeri, kuantitas dan kualitas minyak kayu putih harus dijaga. Salah satu alat penting dalam proses produksi minyak atsiri metoda destilasi uap adalah separator, yang berfungsi untuk memisahkan minyak atsiri dengan air dari destilat yang dihasilkan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari variasi bentuk dan volume separator terhadap perolehan minyak atsiri pada destilasi uap tanaman kayu putih sistem batch. Satu batch penyulingan dengan bahan baku 10 kg dalam tangki destiler berdiameter 50 cm dan tinggi 100 cm. Uap dihasilkan dari boiler berdiamer 50 cm dan tinggi 80 cm diisi air setinggi 30 cm dipanasi dengan kompor sumawar diameter 10 cm. Lama penyulingan 4 jam 15 menit. Periode pengambilan destilat setiap 1000 ml. Pemisahan minyak yang umumnya digunakan petani dengan cara destilat ditampung dalam botol Florentine diwakili gelas becker, didiamkan selama 5 menit dan dipisahkan, selanjutnya dilakukan perlakuan dengan memvariasi 3 bentuk dan 3 volume separator. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perbedaan perolehan minyak atsiri dari berbagai bentuk dan volume separator yang dipilih. Pemisahan minyak cara petani dengan cara ditampung, diendapkan dan dipisahkan dalam gelas becker berdiameter 100 mm dan tinggi 120 mm diperoleh minyak atsiri sebanyak 82,3 ml. Adapun untuk separator silinder berdiameter 84 mm dan tinggi 220 mm, separator globe berdiameter 120 mm dan tinggi 145 mm dan separator conical berdiameter 121 mm dan tinggi 220 mm berturut-turut diperoleh minyak 60 ml, 70,4 ml dan 104,6 ml. Minyak kayu putih yang diperoleh dengan variasi volume separator 500 ml, dimensi sparator silinder berdiameter 60 mm dan tinggi 205 mm, separator globe berdiameter 85 mm dan tinggi 118 mm dan separator conical berdiameter 92 mm dan tinggi 195 berturut-turut sebanyak 56,8 ml, 61,1 ml dan 62,4 ml. Dengan menggunakan variasi volume separator 250 ml dimensi separator silinder berdiameter 51 mm dan tinggi 155 mm, separator globe berdiameter 77 mm dan tinggi 80 mm dan separator conical berdiameter 75 mm dan tinggi 150 mm perolehan minyak kayu putih berturut-turut sebanyak 59,5 ml, 59 ml dan 61,4 ml.

Cajuputi Oil is one of the Indonesian exceeding commodity having big opportunity in domestic and international trade. As a supplier state, quantity and quality of Cajuputi Oil should be maintained. Separator is an important part appliance in steam distillation method to produce essential oil, that function to separate the essential oil from water. This research was conducted to know the influence of variate shape and volume of the separator towards acquirement of essential oil on steam distillation cajuputi plant batch system. A batch distillation with 10 kg raw material placed in distiller tube wich diameter of 50 cm and high of 100 cm. The steam was producted from the boiler wich diameter of 50 cm and high of 80 cm filled by water till 30 cm hight, burned by sumawar stove wich diameter of 10 cm. The time distillation 4 hour and 15 minutes, and 1000 ml distillate fetch periode. The common way to separate oil used by the farmer is lift up the distillate in a dish called Florentine tube compliment by becker glass, let the distillate hush up for 5 minute and than separated. The next step was applied the 3 variate shapes and 3 volumes of the separator. Research result extended the different acquirement of essential oil from variate shape and volume of the separator choosen. The farmer metode to catch cajuputi essential oil with becker glass diameter of 100 mm and high of 120 mm, 82.3 ml essential oil acquired. The essential oil acquired by cilinder shape separator diameter of 84 mm and high of 220 mm, globe shape separator diameter of 120 mm and high of 145 mm, conical shape separator diameter of 121 mm and high of 220 mm respectively are 60 ml, 70.4 ml and 104.6 ml. The essemtial oil acquired by separator volume of 500 ml, cilinder shape separator diameter of 60 mm and high of 205 mm, globe shape separator diameter of 85 mm and high of 118 mm and conical shape separator diameter of 92 mm and high of 195 mm respectively are 56.8 ml, 61.1 ml and 62.4 ml. By using separator volume of 250 ml, cilinder shape separator diameter of 51 mm and high of 155 mm, globe shape separator diameter of 77 mm and high of 80 mm and conical shape separator diameter of 75 mm and high of 150 mm the essential oil acquired are 59 ml, 59. 5 ml and 61.4 ml respectively.
