Penelitian tentang sistem fonologi bahasa Dayak Ngaju ini bertujuan untuk memerikan sistem bunyi bahasa Dayak Ngaju yang meliputi: (1) inventarisasi dan deskripsi bunyi vokal, diftong, dan konsonan; (2) deskripsi fonem dan kaidah alofonisnya; (3 ) deskripsi unsur-unsur suprasegmental; dan (4) deskripsi kaidah fonotaktik dan struktur suku kata. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah data primer dan data sekunder. Metode analisis yang digunakan untuk menganalisa data adalah metode distribusional dengan teknik oposisi yang menggunakan pasangan minimal. Beberapa hal yang dapat disimpulkan dari hasil penelitian ini adalah: (1) ditemukan bunyi vokal dalam bahasa Dayak Ngaju, yaitu [i, e, a, o, dan u], bunyi diftong adalah [ey, ay, aw, oy, dan iw], bunyi konsonan [b, p, t, d, c, j, k, g, ?, m, n, ñ, ?, l, r, s, h] dan bunyi semivokal [w dan y]; (2) ditemukan 5 buah fonem vokal dalam bahasa Dayak Ngaju, yaitu /i/, /e/, /a/, /o/, dan /u/, 5 buah fonem diftong, yaitu /ei/, /ai/, /au/, /oi/, dan /iu/, 16 fonem konsonan, yaitu /p/, /b/, /t/, /d/, /c/, /j/, /k/, /g/, /m/, /n/, / ñ/, / ?/, /l/, /r/, /s/, /h/, dan 2 buah semivokal /w/, /y/; (3) berdasarkan kaidah fonotaktik dalam bahasa Dayak Ngaju terdapat deretan vokal fonem /iu/, /ia/, /ie/, /io/, /ea/, /eo/, /eu/, /aa/, /ae/, /ai/, /au/, /oa/, /oe/, /ui /, /ua/, /ue/, dan /uu/, deretan konsonan /bl/, /br/, /bs/, /bt/, /dm/, /dp/, /dw/, /dy/, /hl/, /ht/, /kl/, /k?/, /ks/, /kt/, /ky/, /lb/, /lm/, /lp/, /mb/, /mp/, /nc/, /nd/, /nj/, /np/, /nt/, /?g/, /?k/, /?s/, /pl/, /pr/, /ps/, /rk/, /rm/, /rn/, /rp/, /ry/, /sk/, /sp/, /st/, /tb/, /tr/, /tw/, /str/, dan /gr/, /kr/, /pl/, /pr/, /tr/, dan /str/ sebagai gugusan konsonan; (4) bahasa Dayak Ngaju tidak memiliki fonem suprasegmental; (5) struktur suku kata dalam bahasa Dayak Ngaju adalah V, KD, VK, KV, KVK, KKV, KKVK; (6) jumlah suku kata dalam bahasa Dayak Ngaju adalah kata bersuku satu, kata bersuku dua, kata bersuku tiga, kata bersuku empat, kata bersuku lima, dan kata bersuku enam

The research on the phonological system of Dayak Ngaju language aims to give (1) the inventory and the description of consonant, diphtong, and vowel sounds; (2) the description of phonemes and their allophone rule; (3) the description of suprasegmental features; (4) the description of phonotactic rule and the syllable structures. The source of the data research is primary and secondary data. In analizing the data, the research applies distributional method with opposition technique which uses minimal pair. The research gives some following conclusions (1) Dayak Ngaju language has vowel sounds [i,e, a, o, and u], diphtong sounds [ey,ay, aw, oy, and iw], consonant sounds [p, b, t, d, c, j, k, g, ?, m, n, ?, ñ, l, r, s,h, ] and semivowel sounds [w and y]: (2) Dayak Ngaju language has five vowel phonemes /i/, /e/, /a/, /o/, and /u/, five diphtong phonemes /ei/, /ai/, /au/, /oi/, and /iu/, sixteen consonant phonemes /p/, /b/, /t/, /d/, /c/, /j/, /k/, /g/, /m/, /n/, /ñ/, /?/, /l/, /r/, /s/, /h/, and two semivowels /w/ and /y/; (3) based on the phonotactic rule of Dayak Ngaju language, the row of vowels are /iu/, /ia/, /ie/, /io/, /ea/, /eo/, /eu/, /aa/, /ae/, /ai/, /au/, /oa/, /oe/, /ui/, /ua/, /ue/, and /uu/, the row of consonants are /bl/, /br/, /bs/, /bt/, /dm/, /dp/, /dw/, /dy/, /hl/, /ht/, /kl/, /k?/, /ks/, /kt/, /ky/, /lb/, /lm/, /lp/, /mb/, /mp/, /nc/, /nd/, /nj/, /np/, /nt/, /?g/, /?k/, /?s/, /pl/, /pr/, /ps/, /rk/, /rm/, /rn/, /rp/, /ry/, /sk/, /sp/, /st/, /tb/, /tr/, /tw/, /str/, and as the consonant clusters are /gr/, /kr/, /pl/, /pr/, /str/, and /tr/ ; (4) Ngaju Dayak language does not have suprasegmental phoneme; (5) the syllable structures of Dayak Ngaju language are V, KD, VK, KV, KVK, KKV, and KKVK; (6) the number of syllable in Dayak Ngaju language is monosyllabic, disyllabic, and polysyllabic.
