Dalaq di Pesantren

This research tries to answer two questions, how is the discourse and practice of dalaq in pesantrens? How is the rationalization of dalaq practiced in every day life of santris in pesantrens? My basical assumption base on Kinsey statement that in every human sexuality there are two continuum poles that tend and move from one to another. These two are homosexuality and heterosexuality. For example, it happen to someone put in prison. This continuum poles seems appropriate to use regarding on the discourse of dalaq in pesantrens. The theory that I use is analytical discourse. The discourse and practice of dalaq didn’t come from an empty space. It produced ceaselessly and there must be an interaction between power and pleasure. The power relation between teacher and student, or between student and another student in a homosexual practices indicates that, as Foucault said, sexuality is a discursive construction over which the power relation operated by constituting the right and wrong form of sexuality and then working out the bodily discipline mechanism. From the data I found three typologies of homosexual behavior: ngobu, ngecer and nyolo that exist in pesantrens. Here I also found the appearances of discourse such as environment, the continously meeting with one single sex, the bridle, The prohibition in classic books, daily statements, the model of rooms (architecture), bathing place (bathroom), Mahrom office. My analysis falls into paradox happens in pesantrens that in one side do not give enough space to the heterosexuality interaction, but in another side also prohibited homosexuality by arguing sodomy or liwath discourse. This then births the logic of irtikabu akhaffu dhararin (doing something that its risk is smallest) amongst santris. The reproduction dalaq discourse in pesantrens happens first, in the this kind of paradox, second the continuous entrustment done by the parents of santris to teacher, third, the silences of kyais and the parents on this case.
