Latar Belakang: Untuk memperoleh kinerja Puskesmas yang optimal, dibutuhkan jumlah tenaga kesehatan yang besar, makin banyak tenaga makin besar cakupan yang bisa dilakukan dalam menangani programprogram di Puskesmas. Tujuan: Untuk melihat bagaimana kinerja SDM dalam mengatasi masalah di Puskesmas. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian ekological studies. Instrumen penelitian adalah dokumen yang diambil dari profil Dinas Kesehatan Kabupaten Sleman. Hasil: Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kinerja SDM di Puskesmas tidak dapat menjadi faktor penentu dalam status kesehatan masyarakat karena dalam pengolahan data menunjukkan kinerja yang buruk. Kesimpulan: Tenaga kesehatan masyarakat di Puskesmas masih kurang sehingga tidak dapat menunjukkan kinerja yang baik.

Background: A big amount of health professionals is required to achieve an optimal performance and the bigger the number of the health professionals, the broader the coverage areas of the programs at the Puskesmas, the local government clinics. Objective: To find out the performance of the human resources in dealing with the exixting problems facing the Puskesmas. Method: The studi is of ecological one and its instrument is the document obtained from the health agency of Sleman district. Results: The results of the study indicate that the performance of the human resources of the Puskesmas can not be the determinant factor of the health status of the people because the performance is bad. Conclusion: The public health professionals in the Puskesmas are insufficient so can not to improve the performance.
