Job embeddedness adalah konstrak baru yang menjelaskan bagaimana seorang pekerja terikat dengan pekerjaan serta organisasi di mana dia bekerja (on-the-job) dan komunitas di mana dia tinggal (off-the-job) sehingga memilih untuk tetap bertahan pada pekerjaannya daripada mencari pekerjaan lain. Tingkat keterikatan pekerja terhadap organisasi dan komunitasnya berpengaruh pada tingkat konflik kerja-keluarga yang timbul dan kepuasannya terhadap kerja, keluarga dan hidup secara umum. Berdasarkan 166 sampel pekerja PT Pertamina (Persero) Unit Pengolahan VI Balongan, dievaluasi model hubungan job embeddedness terhadap konflik kerja-keluarga dan terhadap kepuasan kerja dan keluarga, serta terhadap kepuasan hidup. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa on-the-job embeddedness berpengaruh negatif terhadap work-family conflict, sedangkan off-the-job embeddedness tidak berpengaruh. Off-the-job embeddedness berpengaruh negatif terhadap family-work conflict, sedangkan on-the-job embeddedness tidak berpengaruh. Job embeddedness berpengaruh positif terhadap kepuasan kerja, kepuasan keluarga dan kepuasan hidup.. Work-family conflict berpengaruh negatif terhadap kepuasan keluarga, dan family-work conflict berpengaruh negatif terhadap kepuasan kerja. Kepuasan kerja dan kepuasan keluarga berpengaruh positif terhadap kepuasan hidup.

Job embeddedness is a new construct that explains how employees being attached to their job and organization where they work and to their community where they live, so that they choose to stay with their job instead of looking for alternatives. The level of employees’ embedded to their community and organization effects to the level of conflict and afterwords effects to their satisfy on job, family, and life. Drawing on a sample of 166 employees of PT Pertamina (Persero) Unit Pengolahan VI Balongan, this study evaluates a model of the process by which job embeddedness relates to work-family conflicts as well as overall satisfactions. Results indicate on-the-job embeddedness has a negative effect to work-family conflict, whereas off-the-job embeddedness do not. Off-the-job embeddedness has a negative effect to family-work conflict, whereas work-family conflict do not. Both components of job embeddedness have positif effects to overall satisfaction. Work-family conflict has a negative effect to family satisfaction, whereas family-work conflict has a negative effect to job satisfaction. Both satisfactions, job and family, have positif effects to life satisfaction.
