A Model of the relationships among job embeddedness, work-family conflict, job and family satisfaction and intention to leave

Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengajukan suatu model yang menunjukkan hubungan antara variabel-variabel yang terlibat didalamnya, yaitu job embeddedness, work-family conflict, baik yang berasal dari pekerjaan (work interference with family) maupun yang berasal dari keluarga (family interference with work ), job satisfaction, family satisfaction, dan juga intention to leave. Studi ini juga bertujuan untuk memberikan bukti atas beberapa hipotesis yang disusun berdasarkan model yang diajukan. Penelitian ini mengambil setting pada Industri Perbankan di Indonesia. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner terhadap karyawan di industri ini. Sejumlah 297 data digunakan dalam analisis. Tes validitas dan reliabilitas menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 3 items yang tidak valid sehingga harus dihilangkan untuk analisis selanjutnya. Metode pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini adalah convenience sampling. Hasil dari analisis menggunakan Maximum Likelihood Estimation (sebagai bagian dari AMOS) membuktikan bahwa penelitian ini berhasil mengajukan suatu model yang menunjukkan hubungan antara job embeddedness, work-family conflict, baik yang berasal dari pekerjaan (work interference with family) maupun yang berasal dari keluarga (family interference with work), job satisfaction, family satisfaction, dan juga intention to leave. Hasil dari penelitian ini juga menunjukkan adanya hubungan negatif antara job embeddedness dengan intention to leave dan work interference with family conflict and hubungan positif antara job embeddedness dengan job satisfaction dan family satisfaction. Work interference with family conflict mempunyai hubungan negatif dengan family interference with work conflict, demikian juga antara family satisfaction dan job satisfaction. Sedangkan job satisfaction mempunyai hubungan negatif dengan intention to leave.

This research attempts to propose a new model that shows the relationships among all variables employed, i.e. job embeddedness, work-family conflict (both work interference with family and family interference with work), job and family satisfaction, and intention to leave. In addition, this research also attempts to provide some supports for the hypotheses which are developed based on the model. The researcher chooses the Indonesian Banking Industry as the research setting. Data are collected using a set of questionnaire to the employees of this industry. There are 297 data that can be used in the analysis. The validity and reliability tests show that three non-valid items of the questionnaires should be eliminated for further analysis. Convenience sampling design is used in this research. Using Maximum Likelihood Estimation (as a part of AMOS), this research succeeds in producing a model that shows the relationships among job embeddedness, work-family conflict (both work interference with family and family interference with work), job and family satisfaction, and intention to leave. In addition, this research finds that job embeddedness is negatively related to intention to leave and work interference with family conflict and positively related to job and family satisfaction. Moreover, this research finds the positive relationships between work interference with family conflict and family interference with work conflict as well as between family and job satisfaction. The negative relationship is established between job satisfaction and intention to leave.
