Sistem Continuous Monitoring Inventory Aircraft Unit Load Device (AULD) dalam Supply Chain industri penerbangan :: Kasus di Singapore Airlines Cargo

Surplus dan shortage inventory Aircraft Unit Load Device (AULD) merupakan problem harian yang dihadapi oleh Singapore Airlines Cargo (SIAC) akibat adanya ketidakseimbangan incoming dan outgoing cargo di setiap line-station. Sistem monitoring inventory yang berjalan saat ini bersifat periodik dan mengandalkan performa staf yang bertugas sehingga problem surplus/shortage tidak pernah terselesaikan. Monitoring inventory AULD yang berjumlah ribuan dan tersebar di seluruh dunia hanya bisa dilakukan secara komputerisasi dimana system yang diadopsi adalah continous monitoring system. Continous monitoring system akan selalu memantau aktual inventory agar tidak melampuai safety inventory level yang telah ditetapkan. Komputer akan memberi instruksi secara otomatis kepada staf yang bertugas untuk mengirimkan surplus AULD yang ada di line-station kembali ke hub-SIN. Analisa terhadap aktual dan proyeksi demand di masa mendatang menunjukkan sistem continous monitoring mampu mengurangi level safety stock inventory AULD berkisar antara 22% hingga 80% di seluruh area operasi Singapore Airlines Cargo.

Surplus and shortage inventory Aircraft Unit Load Device (AULD) is daily problem faced by Singapore Airlines Cargo (SIAC) due to imbalance incoming and outgoing cargo in each line-station. The current inventory monitoring system is done periodically and relies on human performance which can not solved the imbalance problem. Monitoring thousands AULD and locate around the world only can be done by computer which adopted the continuous monitoring system. Continuous monitoring system will always monitor the actual inventory not exceed the safety inventory level. The computer will instruct the staff on duty to uplift surplus AULD in line-station back to hub-SIN. Actual and projection future demand analysis show continuous monitoring system able to reduce safety stock level inventory AULD within range 22%-80% in the entire Singapore Airlines Cargo operational region.
