Bednye Ljudi :: Sebuah analisis dialogis

Objek utama penelitian ini adalah sebuah novel karya Dostoevsky yang berjudul Bednye Ljudi (Orang-orang Malang/OOM). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap dan membahas karnivalisasi, komposisi dan situasi-situasi plot, tokoh dan posisi pengarang, representasi gagasan, serta dialog intertekstual di dalam novel tersebut. Sesuai dengan tujuan tersebut, penelitian ini menggunakan teori dialogis Bakhtin dengan metode interpretasi dialogis. Langkah kerja metode ini dimulai dengan mendeskripsikan berbagai suara (kesadaran) dan relasinya di dalam novel, menganalisis keragaman dan ketersebarannya di dalam novel, kemudian menganalisis kontak dan dialog yang terjadi di antara suara (kesadaran) tersebut. Hasil yang dicapai dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa novel Bednye Ljudi merupakan karya karnivalis yang cenderung polifonik dan dialogis, walaupun tidak ‘semeriah’ karya-karya Dostoevsky lainnya di paruh kedua masa kepengarangannya. Karnivalisasi di dalam novel tersebut tampak pada sikap dan perilaku tokoh-tokohnya, lokasi atau latar, serta adanya berbagai ‘teks’ atau ‘genre’ lain. Komposisi novel Bednye Ljudi dibangun oleh dua unsur utama, yaitu sinkrisis dan anakrisis. Dari sisi tokoh dan posisi pengarang, di dalam novel Bednye Ljudi terlihat antartokoh dapat saling berhubungan, tetapi hubungan tersebut terjalin melalui kesadaran. Dari pembahasan representasi gagasan, tampak gagasan pengarang berfungsi untuk mendialogisasi pemikiran atau gagasan lain sehingga mengarah pada upaya kebebasan berpendapat dan kebebasan berpikir. Dari pembahasan tentang dialog intertekstual terlihat bahwa ada beberapa kutipan teks yang diterima sekaligus ditolak oleh Bednye Ljudi.

The main object of this research is Dostoevsky’s novel Bednye Ljudi. The purpose of this research is to show the carnivalization, the composition and the plot situations, the hero and the author’s position, the representation of an idea, and the intertextual dialogues. This research uses the dialogical theory and the interpretation method. By the framework of this method, the first step of the analysis is describing voices (consciousness) and the relations in the novel, analysis the variations of the voices and the level of their distribution, analysis contacts and dialogs happening among the voices. The result of this research shows that Bednye Ljudi is carnivalesque work that tends to be polyphonic and dialogic, although it is not as carnivalesque as his other works in the second period. Carnivalization in that novel appears in the attitude and the behavior of the characters, locations or settings, and the existence of ‘texts’ or another ‘genres’. The composition of Bednye Ljudi is constructed through sincrisis and anacrisis. The characters of this novel have relationships through consciousness. Based on the analysis of the representation of ideas, it is apparent that the author’s ideas function to dialogize the thoughts or other ideas that lead to the effort for freedom of expression and freedom of thought. Based on the analysis on the intertextual dialogues it can be seen that there are a number of quotation of the text that are accepted and rejected by Bednye Ljudi at the same time.
