Shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.) is a strategic horticultural commodity whose production still depends heavily on chemical fertilizers, creating a need for more environmentally friendly and sustainable fertilization innovations. This study aimed to determine the effect of NPK fertilizer, KALAM (compost-biochar-leachate-ash-microbe), and their interaction on soil properties, growth, yield, and K uptake of shallot plants in Purwodadi District, Purworejo Regency. The study used a Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors: NPK dose (0; 0,6; 0,8; 1 g/plant) and KALAM dose (0, 35, 45, 55 g/plant), resulting in 16 treatment combinations with three replications (48 experimental units). The results showed that NPK and KALAM had no significant effect on most soil physical and chemical properties (moisture content, pH H?O, pH KCl, organic C, and CEC), but had a highly significant effect on soil available K (P = 0.0000000673), with KALAM as the main determining factor. For agronomic parameters, the treatments significantly affected fresh bulb weight (P = 0.0125) and total fresh weight (P = 0.0177), while dry weight and moisture content showed no significant differences. The P0,8B45 combination (NPK 0,8 g + KALAM 45 g/plant) consistently performed best, with a fresh bulb weight of 263.27 g, total fresh weight of 110.97 g, and total K uptake of 729.3 kg/ha. These findings indicate that the balance between NPK and KALAM doses, rather than either factor alone, is the primary determinant of shallot productivity on soils with relatively good initial fertility.
