The Keduang sub-watershed is one of the main water suppliers for the Gajah Mungkur Reservoir, which is currently experiencing environmental degradation and dynamic land use changes. These changes directly impact fluctuations in discharge and water availability entering the reservoir. Therefore, estimating potential water yields is crucial to support conservation efforts and manage the risk of future water crises. This research[HM1] This aims to calculate the potential ecosystem services of water resources.(water yield)temporally and analyze its spatial distribution pattern in the Keduang Sub-DAS, Wonogiri Regency, Central Java, using the modelIntegrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Tradeoffs(InVEST) for the period 2020–2024. The input data used in the modeling includes annual rainfall data, reference evapotranspiration (PET), root depth, plant available water capacity (AWC), land cover maps, and biophysical tables. Field surveys were conducted to collect soil samples from 17 sampling points using the purposive sampling method. Validation of the modelling results was carried out by comparing the total volume of water produced by the InVEST model to the actual discharge data (observed discharge) from the discharge recording station (AWLR) in the Keduang Sub-DAS. The results of the study indicate that the potential water yield in the Keduang Sub-watershed is highly fluctuating temporally and is strongly influenced by climate variability (rainfall). The highest water yield volume occurred in 2022, reaching 1,102,814,579.74 m³/year, triggered by high average rainfall due to the La Niña phenomenon. Conversely, the lowest water yield volume was recorded in 2023 at 62,122,336.58 m³/year due to a significant decrease in rainfall due to the El Niño phenomenon. Spatially, high water yields are dominated in the middle to downstream areas with non-vegetation or low vegetation land cover such as settlements (1,932–3,246 m³/ha/year) and rice fields (1,709–2,993 m³/ha/year) due to their low actual evapotranspiration (AET) values. Forest areas in the upstream produce high water yields.water yieldlower per unit area due to high water consumption for transpiration, but ecologically plays an important role in hydrological regulation and maintaining base flow (baseflow). The output of this research is expected to become a spatial database in conservation planning and adaptive land use zoning in the Keduang Sub-watershed.
