The swamp buffalo production system is a traditional husbandry practice that interacts directly with tidal swamp ecosystems; however, its influence on sedimentation rates has received limited quantitative. The swamp buffalo production system is a traditional husbandry practice that directly interacts with the tidal swamp ecosystem; however, its influence on sedimentation rates has not been extensively studied. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the swamp buffalo production system on sedimentation rates in tidal swamp areas of South Kalimantan. The study was conducted in Paminggir District by measuring sedimentation rates using sediment traps in three observation zones: the core zone (the center of buffalo grazing activity), the transit zone (the buffalo movement pathway), and the control zone (without buffalo activity). The results showed that the highest sedimentation rate tended to occur in the transit zone (1.45 kg/m²/day), followed by the control zone (0.59 kg/m²/day), while the lowest rate was observed in the core zone (0.28 kg/m²/day). These findings indicate that buffalo activity tends to influence sedimentation dynamics in the swamp ecosystem, while the presence of vegetation in the core zone is presumed to play a role in reducing sediment accumulation.
