Penggunaan BIM memungkinkan optimasi panjang potong, pemetaan sisa potongan, dan penyusunan pengadaan per lantai sehingga mendukung pengurangan pemborosan material sesuai prinsip lean construction.

Reinforcing steel is one of the materials with the largest cost share in reinforced concrete works; therefore, the cutting waste generated during fabrication directly affects project efficiency. Conventional Bar Bending Schedule (BBS) preparation is prone to calculation errors and does not plan the reuse of offcuts. This study aims to analyze the volume and percentage of reinforcing steel waste based on BBS generated by the Building Information Modelling (BIM) software Cubicost TRB and Allplan 3D, to determine the most efficient software, and to examine the influence of BIM on waste-efficiency planning as an implementation of lean construction.

The research object is the columns and shear walls of Floors 8–12 of an office building construction project in South Jakarta, modelled at LOD 400. Waste was calculated as the difference between ordered and used volume (W = Sigma Bo - Sigma Ee). The cutting lengths produced by both software were aligned with the 12 m commercial bar length, and the offcuts were mapped and quantified using Autodesk Navisworks. In addition, a manual BBS was prepared from the shop drawings to calculate the procurement of full 12 m bars per floor and to map the reuse of offcuts between floors.

The results show that after cutting-length optimization, Cubicost TRB produced an ordered volume of 217,122.03 kg with 1,301.96 kg of waste (0.60%), while Allplan 3D produced an ordered volume of 156,762.05 kg with 1,475.62 kg of waste (0.94%). Both are lower than the conventional BBS (1.02%). Cubicost TRB was the most efficient in terms of waste percentage, while the volume deviations of both software against the BoQ were comparable but in opposite directions (+12.49% and -11.78%). Mapping offcuts between floors in the manual BBS reduced procurement from 7,239 to 7,068 bars of 12 m and waste from 1.30% to 0.54%. The use of BIM enables cutting-length optimization, offcut mapping, and floor-by-floor procurement planning, thereby supporting the reduction of material waste in line with lean construction principles.
