Permasalahan limbah plastik di
Indonesia, khususnya low value plastic, masih menjadi tantangan karena memiliki
nilai ekonomi rendah dan sulit didaur ulang melalui metode konvensional. Salah
berupa EcoRooftile. Meskipun demikian, kajian mengenai karakteristik fisis,
meningkatkan kenyamanan termal bangunan. Namun, beberapa benda uji masih
pengaruh proses manufaktur, seperti distribusi material, tekanan pengepresan,
melalui pemanfaatan low value plastic.
Plastic waste, particularly
low-value plastic, remains a major environmental challenge in Indonesia due to
its low economic value and limited recyclability through conventional recycling
methods. One potential solution is to utilize this waste as a raw material for
roofing products, namely EcoRooftile. However, studies investigating the
physical, mechanical, and thermal characteristics of EcoRooftile made from
melted low-value plastic are still limited, leaving its feasibility as a
roofing material insufficiently understood. Therefore, this study aims to
analyze the physical, mechanical, and thermal characteristics of EcoRooftile
and evaluate its feasibility as a roofing material based on the testing parameters
specified in SNI 0096:2007. This study employed an experimental research method
using EcoRooftile specimens manufactured from melted low-value plastic by PT
Daur Ulang Indonesia. The evaluation included visual inspection, flatness,
dimensional accuracy, water absorption, water impermeability, flexural
strength, and thermal insulation tests. The experimental data were analyzed
descriptively and quantitatively, and the results were compared with the
requirements of SNI 0096:2007 to assess the performance and feasibility of
EcoRooftile as a roofing material. The results showed that EcoRooftile had an
average water absorption of 0.90%, exhibited no water leakage during the
impermeability test, and achieved a maximum flexural load ranging from 930 N to
1,400 N, exceeding the minimum SNI requirement of 550 N. In addition,
EcoRooftile demonstrated an average thermal insulation performance of 27.25%,
indicating its potential to improve thermal comfort in buildings. Nevertheless,
several specimens did not satisfy the visual appearance and flatness
requirements due to variations in the manufacturing process, including material
distribution, pressing pressure, and cooling conditions. Overall, EcoRooftile
fulfilled most functional requirements for roofing materials and shows
promising potential as an environmentally friendly alternative roofing product
through the utilization of low-value plastic waste.
