Daerah Tompobulu, Kabupaten Maros, Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan, menunjukkan indikasi sistem mineralisasi emas-tembaga namun belum dikaji melalui pendekatan geokimia multielemen untuk mendelineasi daerah prospeknya.

The Tompobulu area, Maros Regency, South Sulawesi Province, has shown indications of a gold-copper mineralization system, but has not been assessed through a multi-element geochemical approach for prospect delineation. This study aims to identify the geological, hydrothermal alteration, and ore mineralization characteristics together with the hydrothermal systems present, to determine the geochemical element associations that distinguish the porphyry system from the low-sulfidation epithermal system, and to delineate the gold–copper mineralization prospect areas within 1,400 hectares. A total of 80 rock and 347 soil samples were collected on a 200×200 m grid and analyzed using FA-AAS for Au and ICP-MS for multi-element analysis, with quality control using CRM Oreas 508. The research area consists of six lithological units, namely andesite and autoclastic breccia intruded by gabbro, monzodiorite, granodiorite, and microdiorite. Tectonic stress is dominated by a northeast-southwest orientation (N025E-N035E). Concentric alteration zonation centered on the microdiorite intrusion as the causative intrusion comprises potassic (biotite-actinolite-magnetite), inner propylitic (actinolite-epidote-chlorite), and outer propylitic (chlorite-epidote) zones. The phyllic zone (sericite-quartz-chlorite) is interpreted as a late, fracture-controlled stage of the porphyry system, whereas the argillic (illite-kaolinite) and silicification (quartz) zones lying outboard of the propylitic zone are interpreted as a younger epithermal alteration halo overprinting the outer propylitic halo. Vein and ore mineral observations indicate two genetically distinct systems: a porphyry system with five vein generations (EB-A-AB-B-D) evolving from a quartz-magnetite to a pyrite-chalcopyrite association, and a low-sulfidation epithermal system with a pyrite-galena-sphalerite-chalcopyrite association and bladed calcite texture. Epithermal veins strike dominantly east-west (N061E-N088E), parallel to sinistral faults, with no orientation separation between syn- and post-mineralization stages. The As-Sb element pair is the most stable epithermal pathfinder (? = 0.86 in rock; ? = 0.83 in soil), while Cu shows an exclusive association with the potassic zone. Integration of all data using an overlay method based on coincident anomalies delineated two prospect areas: (1) a 0.339 km² porphyry Cu-Au system in the northwest; and (2) a 0.267 km² low-sulfidation epithermal Au-Ag system in the central area, extending along the structural corridor of the Muntia River to a tributary of the Erelembang River.
