Pemilihan
berat baja tiga tipe jembatan, yaitu gelagar I komposit, steel box girder,
dan rangka baja, pada bentang 40, 45, 50, 55, dan 60 meter.
Setiap
Gelagar I komposit memakai delapan
eksekusi, total 450 eksekusi, lalu dibandingkan memakai uji Wilcoxon rank-sum
dengan koreksi kontinuitas dan ukuran efek A12.
Berat baja
berat per meter bentang, gelagar I komposit paling efisien pada 40 sampai 50
The sizing of medium span steel bridges in Indonesia
still relies heavily on designer experience and trial and error code-based
checking, while existing optimization studies rarely compare algorithms
statistically on full resolution structural models. This research compares
particle swarm optimization (PSO) and genetic algorithm (GA) for minimizing the
steel weight of three bridge types, namely composite I girder, steel box
girder, and steel truss, at spans of 40, 45, 50, 55, and 60 meters.
Every design candidate was evaluated using a full
OpenSees finite element model, loaded according to SNI 1725:2016 with
additional response spectrum analysis per SNI 2833:2016 for the truss, and
checked against AASHTO LRFD capacities with a demand to capacity ratio limit of
0.95 and a deflection limit of L/800. The composite I girder used eight design
variables, the steel box girder twelve, and the truss 27 to 35 variables with
panel zone grouping. Each combination of type, span, and algorithm was run 15
times independently with 3,000 evaluations per run, 450 runs in total, and
compared using the continuity corrected Wilcoxon rank sum test and the A12
effect size.
The minimum steel weight grew from 52,400 kilograms
for the composite I girder at the 40 meter span to 136,908 up to 151,883
kilograms at 60 meters depending on the type. Twelve of the fifteen
combinations showed statistically meaningful differences: PSO prevailed on the
composite I girder and the steel box girder, while GA prevailed on the steel
truss and was also more reliable in reaching the feasible region. The governing
constraint also split, namely deflection for the composite I girder and strength
for the box girder and the truss. In terms of weight per meter of span, the
composite I girder was the most efficient at 40 to 50 meters and the steel box
girder at 55 meters, with the reference truss bridge still being the most
efficient at 60 meters. These findings indicate that the choice of optimization
algorithm should follow the structure type and that formal statistical
protocols can become standard practice in bridge optimization studies.
