Stockpile volume calculation is a crucial component of earthworks. Stockpile volume is directly related to project planning, cost design, and material estimation. Currently, technologies frequently used to accurately calculate volume include Total Station, GNSS, and LiDAR. The use of these equipments requires relatively high procurement and operational costs. One alternative for volume measurement is close-range photogrammetry technology using the Structure from Motion (SfM) algorithm. Smartphones can now be used as instruments for implementing the SfM algorithm. However, there is a limitation: the internal GNSS module's accuracy is only at the meter level. Geocam addresses this by integrating the smartphone with an external GNSS module, thereby enhancing photo geotagging accuracy to the centimeter level for close-range photogrammetry. Data acquisition was conducted without Ground Control Points (GCPs) to evaluate Geocam's precision in 3D model generation. This study aims to compare the accuracy of 3D model geometry and stockpile volume calculations using Geocam and LiDAR SLAM, without the use of additional GCPs.

The study was conducted on a sand stockpile in the sand depot work area of CV. Agus Aji Perkasa (CV. AJP). Data acquisition using Geocam was carried out by overlapping photographs surrounding the stockpile, resulting in 120 photographs. Each photo was processed using the SfM algorithm in Agisoft Metashape software. Data acquisition using LiDAR SLAM involved scanning around the stockpile, generating point cloud data. Geocam and LiDAR SLAM data were then processed to produce a 3D model and DEM. The geometric accuracy of both 3D models was determined by measuring the distances between markers placed around the stockpile, which served as ground truth for the dimensional test. A significance test was conducted to assess the magnitude of the difference between the DEMs generated by Geocam and LiDAR SLAM. The volumetric test was conducted by comparing the Geocam volume with the LiDAR SLAM. The volume deviation tolerance limit is set in the ASTM D6172-98 standard at 2%.

The dimensional test results show that the Geocam 3D model has a geometric accuracy with an RMSE value of 0.039 m, while the LiDAR SLAM 3D model produces an RMSE value of 0.044 m. The significance test using a two-tailed paired t-test showed that the Geocam DEM and LiDAR SLAM DEM were not significantly different. In volume calculations, Geocam produces a volume of 3.897 m3, while the LiDAR SLAM stockpile volume is 3.938 m3. Volumetric tests can then be carried out by calculating the percentage of volume deviation according to the ASTM D6172-98. The deviation value obtained is 1.04%. This shows that Geocam is able to produce 3D models and stockpile volume calculations with a level of accuracy that is not much different from LiDAR SLAM.
